Quote: Yes, I have the letter from Jeff in my pocket. PM me if you want all the revenue numbers.

Not sure why a new thread was needed when an existing speculation one exists.
Well the spectulation thread was about the *content* of the program, I just want to know when it will come out!

Any help appreciated.

Regards.

We should all be very vigilant over the next few days after today's announcement regarding upgrade certs.

After such a positive announcement, I'm on the lookout for possible covert negatives they're trying to distract from.

Tell ya' what I'd want to see:

1. Print the 2013 Elite cards for all overseas members first.
2. Start printing the cards for everybody who has requalified as 1K NOW. What are you waiting for?
3. The first week in January, start printing all remaining cards conveying *G status.
4. Then print the Silver cards - but at least TRY to make sure people get them by the end of the month.

Quote: I also think we are going to see YQ charged on at least some awards soon....AS is already doing it.
AS is only doing it on BA awards due to demands by BA. AS seriously would prefer not to charge it, but their hand was forced by BA. They are continuing to talk with BA about the issue, and I think the vast reduction in the number of BA redemptions is a constant reminder to AS's management that BA is not playing fair.

AS does not charge YQ for awards on any other carrier.

2013 Mileage Plus Program Speculation
I will say this: the more I think about it, the more I would rather have 8 GPUs and a fare class restriction than 6 and no restriction.

Funny. We get 8 SWUs with no fare class restriction over on AA.

I'd be inclined to book more revenue travel with UA internationally if not for the fare class restriction. Flying via odd city pairs on a Tuesday morning isn't exactly my cup of tea to get a confirmed upgrade at booking.

Where have you failed to see they already are restricted? You must buy W or higher. S and lower do not qualify.

2013 Mileage Plus Program Speculation
My argument was counter to those who would like the fare restriction removed; I could live with it if I could get 8 of them at 100k PQM. Six is kind of an awkward number for two people using them.

And I realize that AA give 8 with no restriction, but my travel calls for destinations beyond NRT, Latin America and a handful of European cities.

There might be some news about the 2013 program announced at the UA/DO later this week. Just guessing...

Agree.
I still have not received my 2012 1k card (though perhaps it will arrive in time for 2013).

UA will further worsen the situation for medium spenders. GS and mileage runners will be fine as they were before but for 1Ks and below on H fares or below things will become even more dire than with UA's current clumsy attempts to reward spending on revenue.

Because they cannot really track the latter - face it apologist, they cannot even accurately track the miles credited - they will further tweak the prejudiced priority schemes which then in turn will work against 1Ks and other lesser elites.

But within the context of what will change for next year? Are you suggesting things will change? I think they'll keep things where they are, rather than try to rock the boat much more than they already have. Eventually, you're right, the middle spender will get the shaft, the GS will be taken care of, and the low-spend opportunist will continue to find ways to game the system to their advantage.

Simplify the program:

Fewer levels

Silver = 50,000 Miles of which 35,000 must be United metal BIS
Gold = 75,000 Miles of which 50,000 must be United metal BIS
1K = 100,000 Miles of which 75,000 must be United metal BIS
GS = 125,000 Miles of which 100,000 must be United metal BIS

No TOD upgrades offer until all GS and 1K have been upgraded.

Upgrades processed by Status, then GPU, RDU, Miles, Fare class, Date purchased

Prioritize upgrades for all discounted fares YBM (government, corporate) behind publicly available YBM fares.

All international fares for 1K and above eligible for GPU. If there is a seat for sale, we can use GPU.

No capacity controls on Saverpass redemption for 1K and above. If there is a seat for sale, we can redeem at Saverpass award level.

Simple, fair, and makes 1K and above worth having.

It will never happen! Nice wishing though.
