Really? What is everyone else doing wrong?
I've had it take anywhere from 20 minutes to 1:30 (that's one hour, 30 minutes).
I've had two (2) 1+ hour rebooks in 2013 alone.
And several 20 - 45 minute rebooks since 3/3/2012, many of which were with ex-CO agents who should have been familiar with the system.

Ticketing? I'm lucky to get them to rebook me during IRROPS these days!
LAX T6 seems notorious for sending you to the CS counter outside. While I do realize that SHARES is cumbersome and slow, it's not reasonable to expect a pax to buy a membership solely for the fine dining and luxurious accommodations of the UC.

Why didn't you just do it online? Do you call your bank branch and ask them to read you your balance, too?
I don't really blame the agent for not wanting to do something that you could've just done yourself, probably with more ease and certainly saving time.

I run a little business on the side. Customers ask me if I want a check, Paypal, Amazon, cash, etc. My usual response is, 'whatever works for you'.

Now, depending on what he/she is trying to do can fluctuate trying to sync or price quote. So in now way is every future ticketing or rebooking the same. So its fair to say some are lengthy, which appears you have had the pleasure of, and some can be very quick.

Had a similar response at SFO RCC (prior to merger). After I explained that the reservation has been set up, and all they have to do is to validate the cert, she processed it anyways, and the receipt came with an antique sliver color business class ticket holder.
However, if the club only has 1 desk for check-in, they do not do anything related to reservations (e.g., JFK).

To be fair, they eventually did it for me.... they just balked about it how much work it was. The funniest quote from the agent was, 'we need to take care of our PAYING customers.' To which I replied, 'what am I?'
