What is the record # of gate changes?
Today, UA 5810 ORD to DSM, was scheduled to leave at 11:55 a.m.. Delayed for "flight crew delayed on inbound aircraft". The flight was progressively delayed in 30-40 minute intervals, until FINALLY 5 hours later we took off.
Five gate changes: E4, F7A, F11A, E3, E4, F14
Think they did that just to keep us busy ...
LOL

Or, there might be a chance, maybe just slight, that as your flight time kept changing, the gate they had moved you to use was already scheduled for another aircraft. Everything UA does is not always a conspiracy, you know.
Actually...forget all that...it's probably SHARES fault.

Would have been nice if they had just waited until the inbound plane was in the air before they moved gates ... but I really did just ask the question, curious to hear others experience with gate changes, as 5 is a personal best.

I also enjoyed 5 gate changes in rapid succession on a LAX-IAH in January. Much more convenient, though, since they just cycled through every gate between 60 and 65. And kept the same airplane, as far as I could tell. It was still a cluster-reproduction of epic proportions, though.

This was about 9-10 years ago on pmUA, and not a record for the number, but my record for annoyance in gate changes:
We arrived at ORD C27, then had to run to catch an ORD-PIT from F-something (mainline at the time). Sat on that plane for 2 hours before they told us we needed to get off and go to...C27. Better than cancelled, but still...

4 gate changes in 1 hour at SFO (4 March)
SFO-SEA: 32B - 35 - 38 - 35
Total chaos yesterday due to the fog earlier, but don't understand why they needed to move the gates around this much. Lots of passengers were upset (esp since you had to trudge up and down those nasty stairs from gate 38).
The GAs had no clue about the new assignments and there were a few incorrect flight announcements as a result ... fun!
btw, this was my first time in T1 ... what a dump when compared to T3.
