I couldn't agree more. It's always been bad, but seems to have gotten worse since the merger.

As this is affecting AC and US, as well, I've put in a mod request to move this to the LH forum, since it's their system advertising the false availability.

 This has nothing to do with UA or the merger. The availability is published by the individual airlines. It's not restricted by UA, nor are seats withheld by each airline from MP members specifically.

Additionally, I disagree completely but that's beside the point in this case. *A availability has never been easier to find thanks to the various tools available.

Stupid merger. Stupid SHARES. Stupid UNITED.

May I say there are a lot of stupid UA flyers as well? :D

Doesn't look like a CO issue to me at all. What makes you think it's a CO issue?

Well, my apologies to dot bomb since it is LH's fault.

Still, not very cool.

Eventually I found some space in business on a 747-8. No caviar, but my wife and I can play footsie in the footsie seats!

Yet another reason I don't fly UNITED anymore?! ;)

dot bomb was also VERY unhelpful finding me space NBO-FRA (and that was not a LH issue, it was ET and MS). I had hoped that it would be a more useful tool than the old dot bomb. But it is not. KVS, Expertflyer, etc are definitely still the way to go. That and/or spending an hour on the phone with an agent.

Agreed - very untruthful of Lufthansa.

SHARES has more problems than we can ever count...... but I agree, this ain't one of them.

If I'm looking for LH F space, I use ANA. It still seems accurate.

To be fair, in my opinion, among all the airlines in the world UA's award search engine is second only to AC's. NH's search engine only returns a very limited number of options. QF also has an excellent award search engine but it doesn't support several oneworld partners.

Being a refugee from DL, my impression of the UA board here has always been that people tend to over-criticize UA for whatever reason. I do think UA flyers are a little bit 'spoiled'. If UA doesn't support online partner award search like most other airlines in the first place, maybe no one would be complaining at all.

Keep an eye on the flights inside 2 weeks of departure. That seems to be the only time LH is actually releasing F award seats. I've seen O>2 on several occasions this summer 2-3 days out on the 74H flight IAD-FRA-IAD. Good luck... I've been checking religiously looking for the same thing!

Agreed. Also keep an eye out for IAD-MUC [has the new C/F product as well]. Plus JFK, EWR, CLT, DTW, ATL, etc are all a short flight out of IAD if F availability opens up. One of the huge perks of having all award change fees being wavied ^

Best of luck, and have a great trip with your wife kokonutz!

Yeah, being able to change awards for free is why we (we are both 1k MMs) are burning miles before we let go of 1k at the end of the year. @:-)

Actually I've found availability since the big merger to be better. One of the few improvements since last year.

About $800 more than LH did for 2 tickets. Stupid LHR passenger duty fee.

Cargojon Jul 13, 2012 2:43 pm

Thought I had nailed a pair of F seats MUC-EWR, but alas the "Ghost" was haunting us again.
