PNR isn't proof, u need an eTicket #. But if the pnr held for a few days that sounds good enough.

I've been having issues with LH F flights that show as available on Aeroplan, too. In some cases, .COm will show them available for several days, they'll be available on Aeroplan, and the phone agents swear they are not there. Ugh!

Same happened to me 3 days ago. Agent saw nothing available, I saw LH F FRA-NRT (380, sigh!) and when I booked online it even created a PNR stating "waitlisted" :rolleyes:. I gave up on it soon and switched to TG...

I have been getting the 380 WOUT problems in F both NRT-FRA and FRA-NRT. with a few exceptions they only pop up 7 days before. Have you used the ANA site to check? I've found the availability shown there to be correct!

It's booked under a COdbaUA 016 ticket number with both UA and LH PNR's

Ghost Availability for UA flights. Is this new?
 

I was looking for a one way from FRA-NYC just to complete a round trip. (planning to change to a better flight closer to departure). UA.COM shows O1 ON1 from GVA-EWR. (with a conx from FRA-GVA) Called and spoke to an agent with the personality of a sponge and she insisted there are no O seats avail. Hung up and got a much better agent who also insisted no O Or ON. He told me if I see it to book it but that does me no good as I'm completing a R/T to Asia. The BKK-FRA flight that's avail is on 7/13 and the FRA-GVA-EWR is on the 15th. I can't book it myself as I can't have a stop over on a 1 way but if I tack these flights onto the one way I have on hold now from NY-BKK it will make it a round trip

What is going on? Is .COM now showing ghost avail on true UA flights like it does for LH?

I don't know about AGAIN. But it sure as hell is happening now. The flight is coming up as avail for an F award on .bomb. It also shows O1 under availablity. But ANA and Expert flyer say it's not avail :mad::mad: (as well as 2 agents, one of which was a moron but the other seemed like he knew what he was doing. Guess I'll call "again". Maybe 3rd times a charm

Yup, it's been off and on for months. Now that UA is using CO's IT, you'll learn that bugs that appear fixed will return again. TODs has been off and on for years. This phantom availability issue was there a while ago, it went away, and it's back again. They have serious version control issues in what they're building.

That said, you can use it to your advantage. Web support was able to force my tickets for me a few months ago (last time this bug came up) based on the website saying it had the flights available.

Make sure you call web support.

Dude, put that leg on hold, if it goes (0.01%) call to add segments. So long as the other segments aren't on a different pnr yet, it will go. It will usually have to be priced manually that way though.

This btw is the first time I'm hearing this happening on UA metal (ON only on UA + fare avail). G-D, what a messed up airline.

Just got WEB support - nothing they can do except confirm that "YEP, NOW .COM IS SHOWING GHOST AVAILABILITY FOR UA FLIGHTS AS WELL AS LH FLIGHTS". Real great system this SHARES is :mad: it does not even know its own inventory

How / Why did pmCO passengers put up with this crap? Did they just think its normal?

Found a different flight 4 days later on UA. Grabbed it to complete the R/T and I'll just find a LH Flight at T-7 and switch it. Aghhhhhhh

What an idiotic system. Let's see it do it to revenue too.

Just called UA to change an award return. UA.COM is showing the usual LH Ghost avail but 3 flights on UA that would work just to hold. ALL 3 are not really avail either. Yesterday I found one UA flight that was just ghost avail but TODAY, 3 ,MORE!!! So now you really can't even find true UA availability......on UA.COM. This is ridiculous

I would be surprised if you have a pnr (putting on hold) and they wouldn't honor it.

I use expertflyer for UA. Shows elite/non elite and +/- 3 days.

I don't think this is SHARES, but rather other parts of PMCO's IT systems that are now used UA-wide.

Mostly hub captives without a choice.
