UA895 ... again

Today's 895 left the gate at 14:18 (scheduled at 13:37) aircraft #8405 (N105UA). Returned to gate at 15:13.

Now scheduled for 09:30 tomorrow morning. Currently no change in aircraft.

Delay reason - Aircraft servicing. At least is doesn't say Airport conditions preventing departure.

United has got to do something about their aging long haul fleet.

934 LAX-LHR tonight (6/28) went to a 1 hour delay for aircraft servicing, then cancelled. 100% full flight too.

"United has got to do something about their aging long haul fleet."

This. It's incredible how many delays/cancellations are happening concerning the long haul aircraft, mainly the 744s.

Was on flight 882 NRT-ORD on 6/26. Was delayed 5.5 hours waiting for incoming plane from SFO.

June 30: UA892 ICN-SFO Canceled

I had confirmed Business class upgrade on the flight tomorrow, then United sent me an email about 3 hours ago to tell me that the flight is canceled. No one was able to tell me why the flight was canceled - anyone know why?

Flt 908 ORD to AMS cancelled last night due to "aircraft servicing" as well. Lot of yellow on the board going everywhere else too. Have they gone cheap on their maintenance rotations?

The Unitedcargo website says the cancellation is due to operations, which is vague enough to encompass almost anything, but perhaps other, more experienced Flyertalkers have better insight into this. United has been having issues with the 747 fleet recently, so this might be part of the problem. It seems that flight 893, from SFO-ICN is cancelled today (June 29), so there's likely no plane for the return from ICN tomorrow (June 30).

I have a gut feeling that UA is adapting a policy of canceling flights with low loads instead of operating them empty with hugh loss

That's absurd... I checked this flight and LF was at 96%.

Completely wrong sounds nice. Probably wrong is more likely a better response. But in these days of United does everything wrong or United does nothing wrong the absolute post seems to govern otherwise intelligent people's behavior. Just IMO of course

Anyone knows why they kept cancel UA 733 for last 2 days (6/27 & 28)? my poor friends on this flight missed her connecting flight to EZE 2 days in a row.

Is there any data about the number of flight cancellations? Anecdotally it seems like there have been a lot lately.

It's only a gut feel though, which takes some of the certainty out of the picture. So I could say that the poster is probably wrong, but I think he is completely wrong

Flightaware gives this information but only over a limited time period. UA leads the charts globally in cancellations this week but that is almost entirely due to severe weather at several of their hubs:

6/29 ua 869 sfohkg

6/29 UA 869 SFO-HKG currently on decision at 14:30. Speed brake is inop. They are possibly considering changing planes. Current plane is N199UA. Passengers and crew still at gate. Even if they change planes the crew might time out.
