ORD-MSP 3/20 "V" Fare one way, $172.90 all in. Offered First for $69.00 at booking. Went back to check the details a few minutes later for this post, a banner on the reservation offers upgrades to first "from $67.00." Clicked it, the offer was indeed $67.00 to me. Did I just read the first screen wrong?
United could consider selling non-refundable options in addition to confirmed seats once the flight nears or reaches capacity, then hold an open outcry auction at the gate, with different auctions for each cabin. Really want/must have a seat up front? Keep bidding until you win. Have no money? Maybe there will be enough no-shows and the last seats will go for the option price. And think of the entertainment value, much more fun watching six travelers duke it out for the last E+ seat on a packed transcon than escalating offers to induce someone to give up a seat. The possibilities are endless. Declined. |
SNA-DEN-STL (DEN-STL cleared)for tomorrow...SNA-DEN offered $169 for F. declined. thought about it. currently #12 out of 21 on the list. not too worried about it since i am in row 7.

$7 to upgrade to first
My company pays for coach, and then I usually buy up to F on my own.
IAH-DEN-IAH in an H fare..... After it ticketed by my travel agent, I went into UA.com and was able to upgrade for $7 each way... Now showing a P fare. Not going to complain about that! |

DEN-OMA offered at $89 on a W fare. CRJ-700. No. 1 on waitlist so we'll see how it plays out.
Interesting note below the OLCI upgrade screen- I'm sure someone has posted this already but it really does say a lot: "All passengers checking in will receive prices based on the highest Premier status in the reservation." So much for loyalty. :td: Do you also want them to have less baggage allowance and pay for E+? |
LAX-IAD
March 20 1K Offered Y to F for $74 I grabbed it. Only a few seats left in F...and even though I am on a high fare (E), I was not going to risk it. And that's how they make money off me, right?? |
