4/13/15
E fare, Premier Silver, DEN-IAD. Last F seat open at T-24. Offered at OLCI for $859. Laughed. Hard. 4/17/15 E fare, IAD-DEN. 2 F seats open at T-24. Offered at OLCI for $159 (surprised it was that cheap). Seeing as I was E- middle, 3rd row from the back, 46 total people on the UG list, and it was a dinner flight, didn't take too much self-convincing to take it. |
TOD, UA 1295 DEN to LAX
Y fare. OLCI $129 #1 on CPU list, declined TOD UG cleared at T- 12 Looking back it was an S class. |
UA1279 SEA-IAH (tonight's redeye)
Offered TOD for 159 for an L fare on a 738 as a silver, declined At least two people did take the TOD as F is now sold out (and the upgrade list didn't change-oddly enough of the 16 F seats, only 4 were upgrades using instruments/CPU, and the upgrade list is only 3). |
UA1154 IAD-CUN
OLCI $129 each for two persons - took it (K -> R). No status with UA. Nice way to start a vacation. |
UA270 MSP-DEN 5/3 $59, 1k, V fare, at booking, declined. Funny how $120 for a four hour flight seems like a decent deal, but $60 for a two hour flight isn't.
|
$149 and $150 SEA IAH and IAH FLL respectively. Declined both, sat in coach both flights lagging at #5 on the list.
|
DEN-ATL on W fare, 1K. Flight looks pretty lightly loaded, lots of E+ open and two F seats on this 320.
Before check in offered upgrade for $59, pass on it. After check in, doesn't clear but I'm in the running and the offer goes to $115. At about 18hrs the offer goes back to $59 I wonder where those amounts come from? |
First TOD ever accepted.
04/30/2015 - EWR->IAH Flight 712 - OLCI TOD at $59. Original fare was L and now is P. Generally I see these as in the HOD$$. At T-22 OCLI Flight was 23/30 where it had been sitting for the past 72 hours. Figured I might make CPU as 1K, but decided to take this, as I considered it reasonable for this route/aircraft. 5/1 - Looks like this was the right decision. At T-22 only 3 folks upgraded. At flight departure, a total of 5 got upgraded, with 50+ on the wait list. Even as a 1K I probably would not have gotten a CPU on this flight (767-300). |
Was going to use my RPU for a friend (who is silver) on SFO-ORD, 11/27 but saw $31 offer to upgrade so used that instead. I have never seen a TOD that low.

Just be forewarned - your credit card will probably be charged 10 times that amount for the upgrade.

I show the pending charge is $31. Can they change it after it hits?

ORD-MSP $17 (seventeen dollars) TOD from M fare to A fare. It really is amazing how the business model has changed since Continental took over United. So many times in the past few years, I've experienced zero-to-few upgrades clearing on transcons and midcons so when I saw $17, I caved. I'm 1K, how sad is that. CO and SMI/J killed UA.
