United Airlines operates an "air side" shuttle bus between Terminals A and C from 4:00AM to 12:00AM (midnight). In addition, United also operates a shuttle bus connecting Terminals A and C to terminal B (pier 3, used by Star Alliance carriers) from 1:00PM to 11:00PM, but not in the opposite direction (shuttle does not board at Terminal B). Almost certain YQB-EWR will be at Terminal B - that's where my flight came in when I did the route. I don't think UA can afford to blow one of the gates in C3 on a UAX plane. Unless OP's aunt has PreCheck / Global Entry, this is dicey to do, even assuming there are no weather issues...this will be at peak afternoon travel time, so security lines will likely be long at EWR.
Looking at today's arrivals, one YQB flight arrived at Terminal B, and one at Terminal C. The mid-afternoon flight that your aunt would be taking was cancelled. If your aunt arrives at C, does not have to wait at customs, and there's a short line at security, she might make it (this does not seem likely). I don't see how someone could arrive at B, get through customs and security, and make it to the gate at C before the doors close if both planes are on time.
If the flights are booked, there's not much you can do about it, unless there is a schedule change or a weather waiver. As I mentioned above, she should try to get the agents at YQB to reroute her on AC if the flight is at all delayed (which is quite likely at that time of day).

Thanks to all those that responded, and confirmed my suspicions.
I'm actually hoping for a weather waiver; my worst-case scenario is perfect weather, flight on time, as I just don't think she can make that connection.
I was actually shocked it was within MCT; I mean, I know they are generally quite optimistic, but this seems quite ridiculous.
Every few months or so it seems we get an announcement that yes! it's! coming!, then crickets. I might faint with shock if it actually gets done.
If there's a weather waiver in effect for her date of travel, she'll be able to change to an earlier flight from YQB at no cost. Otherwise, you'll likely have to pay a change fee to switch flights. If the plane is delayed leaving YQB to the extent that the connection becomes impossible, the agents in YQB may consider rerouting her on AC via YUL if there are seats.

Given that is the highest probability situation, it may be better to be proactive. Call and mention the very tight times and the "mobility" concerns, something might be possible, even if there is a minimum additional cost.

Newark - Terminal B International Arrivals
I will be arriving there for the first time shortly. My searches here and elsewhere seem to indicate that this is a rather pleasant experience - described by one as the shining jewel in an otherwise dismal UA hub ;-) I will be arriving at 6 pm - after most of the European flights have arrived. Are my expectations for a speedy experience realistic ?

INTL arrivals can get crowded at various points during the day. While flights from Europe would have arrived by then, there are still many flights from Asia scheduled to arrive during the early evening time. If you have GE and are not checking bags, you would be landside within 5-10 minutes at most; otherwise, it is hard to project just like most airports.

Also, if your international flight is on UA, you can arrive in Terminal B or C.

Yes, very easy to find at the front of the security line. It will appear very long at certain times of the day but usually moves well. I do a lot of B-C connections and with GE I've made it gate to gate in 30 minutes.

91 minutes D to I?
I have a choice between a 91-minute UA mainline to UA connection, or a 3 hour UX to UA. In business, but it's the journey start, so the Polaris Club isn't necessary. More worried about Polaris onboard a 763.

If your 1st flight is on time, no problem to connect at EWR in 90 minutes. Taking the UAX flight gives you more cushion, but typically UAX flights are less reliable than mainline. And EWR can go sideways pretty quickly with the slightest weather.
I would probably go with the 3 hour UAX, knowing the 90 minute mainline flight could be the backup if things go wrong.
If you get to EWR early, you have access to Polaris Lounge (depending on flight destination), so decent place to either relax or get some work done prior to Intl flight.
