Check out this "how to" thread by smb12 and download his Greasemonkey script for additional functionality.
I'd also recommend the script Darlox created and mentions in this thread.

I ran the script on Firefox (with Greesemonkey), and I see the yellow box that says Available Cabins, but nothing is listed. Please advise

There is tons of R availability ex-NRT. The problem I suspect is that you are searching for flights ex-SIN and it will not show upgrade availability unless both segments have R, and SIN-NRT rarely shows R. I would suggest you search for the NRT-US flight you want; when you book and apply the GPU, NRT-US will clear immediately, and you will waitlist for the SIN-NRT segment.
Thanks for the tip, it seems likely to work, when I get ready to book.

Sure upgrade
I'm learning the system.
I'm saving GPU's and mileages for family vacation. I want to show off to my wife What is the most certain way to get the upgrade? Is it GPU or Mileage+$Copay or something else except for buying the business class tickets outright?

How to check for R class on united.com
Hello,
I have heard, that it is possible to search for R class on UNITED.com if you set your profile to "expert" mode....
I can not find that option on my profile, could someone please point me to the right section so I can do this?
Thank you!^

Do be aware, though, that expert mode is not perfect.
For example, searching IAD-BKK, every single US-NRT flight showed R0, including the positioning flights within the US (e.g. IAD-SFO).
Searching the exact same dates for IAD-NRT showed R4, R5, R8, R9, etc. on most of those flights.
Apparently just because NRT-BKK is R0, .bomb felt it appropriate to show IAD-xxx-NRT as R0 as well. Only a couple of instances were "direct" flights; the rest I just don't understand.

Trying to do a miles UG to J to Europe. Is there a way to check availablity on the UA website or does one have to call. I used to use expertflyer but that's now not an option. Thanks
