Adding Continental to United
Hi Everyone, I know this question has been asked 100 times but I can't find the exact answer.
I have Continental Gold Elite but no status anymore on United. I am flying back from Japan soon and I can't choose Economy Plus at United.com because it's tied to my "status-less" number. Right now I'm in a middle seat in the back of the plane! The FAQ indicates that I do get economy plus but don't know how to get them to recognize my Continental number, at least how to do it online. I call but am kept on hold for 30 minutes plus so was hoping to do this online.

You need to call if they are not seeing it online.
If you have not done so, also link the accounts so you have status on both airlines

Thanks. The story is even more complicated -- Continental has my name off by one digit from the way United has it, so I can't link them.
And the reservation was made at vayama.com, so there is NO mileage number whatsoever attached to the reservation. I log in to modify the seating at united.com and that's where it's tied to my no-status, but I can't attach any mileage number to said reservation...
I'm happy to call them but they seem to be a bit understaffed, I give up after 30 minutes of waiting...

I called CO today because they had my middle intitial as part of my profile and the MP/OP link kept failing. The CSR on the phone changed it for me and 10 min later I had linked the accounts together. She told me it takes 7-10 days for your status to update ( at least going from MP to OP)
I would think you're also entitled to call the UA Premier Exec 800 # which may be faster than the general reservations line. Sorry I can't provide it but I'm sure someone here has a link.

CO should be able to connect you to the UA elite line where they can add your OnePass number to the reservation and verify the status and get the E+ seats assigned.
