We had those too...after the Cuban missile crisis. Not sure what good they thought getting under our desks was going to be if the Cubans had decided to take out the local NAAS with nuclear devices. :rolleyes:

I too recall those drills, which were strikingly similar to the earthquake drills.

Gets you thinking about the good old days. :rolleyes:

We had to go in the hallway that didn't have windows and had to sit and cover our heads. (I'm sure that would have helped:rolleyes:) My school was very close to the Nike missile base.

:cool: All we had nearby was NAAS Kingsville, which I think was even abandoned by the Navy eventually and the base turned over to the city.

I think that's just a standard elementary school disaster drill. It seems strikingly similar to the tornado drills we had.
