ANY UA Domestic 744s this summer/fall

I am an OZ Diamond member (STAR G) Short 3000 or so miles for requalification...I was looking to do a domestic turnaround just for fun and it would be great if it were on a 744...Failing that, I might just do the craziest thing ever and do an LAX-SYD turnaround (with 6 hours to explore Kingsford-Smith)...Any advice would be much appreciated

Nothing domestic I am aware of. The occasional LAX/SFO-HNL run, but it's tough to predict.

I've seen it more often on SFO-ORD than anything else, but that's been a while.

Nice views of N36444:

Anyone know where that is? I was guessing VCV, but doesn't appear to be so.

And to elaborate, I don't think UA has any scheduled domestic 744 runs, if it happens, it would be for operational reasons.

Plus, I would not expect any of the scheduled HI runs in Dec/high season as down an airframe because of the military lease, and another 744 to be pulled in the 4Q.

I was just trying to see if anyone knew of any UA IRROPS I could take advantage of...thx so much everyone...

United really needs to add IPTE configured 777 on IAD-BRU.... not looking forward to old school business

bmvaughn Jul 24, 2011 5:43 pm

Not sure why A.net is listing the CO Retrojet as repainted into the new livery, but they are - that's why our Wiki is off by 1 painted plane.

Scheduled to be parked by EOY:
1 UA 747
1 757 (unclear of which livery)
1 CO 767-200 ER
5 CO 737-500s

Scheduled to be received by EOY:
3 737-800s

The 744 was mentioned before, and the 735's and 762 make economic sense. But do you have any additional info or color on the 757? In the April fleet plan 757's seem to indicate they would be steady til Y/E (granted they may have changed plans)

I fly this route occasionally, and given the light loads relative to LHR, FRA and MUC, BRU isn't going to be high on the list for the new configuration.

Probably will be N532UA, a p.s bird. They renewed the lease for a year after it was ending last September. 531UA left 2 years ago.

If we are loosing a p.s. bird, any idea on how that may impact service? Perhaps a pre-cursor to more "change$"?

Well, I'm only guessing, but it does seem like a reasonable scenario since they have 737s on order and are looking to dump older planes any chance they get.

If it does come to pass, they can adjust the schedule for one less bird, convert another '57, or use a CO 739, a change akin to everything else that's changed so far: bad.

They're under the assumption the "lets save everything from the great CO" management will have the bird stick around. Unfortunately, it wouldn't surprise me if it did. You know if it was a UA retrojet painted before the merger it would've been the first to go...
