Noon departure out of Heathrow - lounge or other activities in the morning?

There are 2 of us, arriving into Heathrow from Germany on Saturday night around 7-8pm. We are both flying out of Heathrow the next day, Sunday, at around 12.30pm. My friend has access to the T3 Cathay lounge, and I have access to the T3 Virgin Clubhouse. I pre-paid for the Ibis London Heathrow hotel, since I was originally on a flight departing at 9am.

My question is, what are thoughts about our options for Sunday morning? We should be up early being on German time. Thoughts on these options?

- Heading to the airport early and enjoy the lounges?
- Walking trails/parks near the airport (this will be in April)?
- Renting a car and driving somewhere for a few hours? Windsor? Central London? Closer in?
- Take a bus or train somewhere in the local vicinity? Trails/parks?

We've both been to London before, but it seems like a waste to not do something when in London (he's from Australia, and I'm from the USA).

Any suggestions on how to enjoy a fulfiling Sunday morning without having a frantic schedule? Or should we just head to our respective lounges and enjoy those?

This long layover question has been asked and answered a bazillion times over.
Also why are you staying at the airport? Go into the centre of town.
Try doing a search "LHR layover" or similar - a small sample:

Personally, I think you've got this all wrong. Don't stay at the airport, but in London. Arrive, go straight to the hotel in London, then go out to dinner. 9ish is a good time for dinner on a Saturday night and choose a fun spot. Also, if you are heading TATL on Sunday, you need to start adjusting your time, so keep it late.

Then get up late-ish on Sunday and head to the airport. For a 12:30 flight with a 10:30 check in you'll have to leave at around 9:30 so there isn't much time to do anything before then anyway.

If you've got Clubhouse access, you'd be mad not to pitch up early and make the most of it.

Heaven knows why you went for the Ibis though. The five star Sofitel attached to T5 has been 90ish on Sat nights via lastminute.com secret hotels for ages. You will pay 20 return just to get the two of you to the Ibis via the Hoppa bus.
