Transfer security at MAN
Arriving at T3 from America, connecting to an intl. flight from T1. Looking at the FAQ on the Official manchesterairport site, it explains going through the Flight Transfer Centre with its security check. 'Security check' is explained as allowing no liquids (with the known exceptions and qualifications). However, the FAQ then says
> Duty free purchases need to be in a plastic bag sealed by the retailer
> that has not been tampered with.
Does this also then apply to duty-free liquids?
Several years ago, in Europe but not the UK, I had a very nice single malt confiscated under similar circumstances. Don't want to take the risk again.
cheers,
Henry

I think that FAQ is only giving you part of the story.
As far as I know, it is *only* liquids that they're worried about. Duty free camcorders and cigarettes etc can be packed how you like.
Duty free liquids, if purchased in an EU or EEA state (or airline) within the previous 24 hours will be allowed through, provided that they are sealed in a tamper-proof bag with the receipt clearly visible.
I don't think liquids brought in the USA or onboard a US aircraft are allowed.

The Heathrow Airport website explains it better. I wouldn't put money on it, but I assume that Manchester Airport is bound by the same rules:

Looks like I was only half right about the USA. You can bring booze from a US airport duty-free shop, but you can't from onboard a US airline. And it appears to be 36 hrs, not 24.
Connections and transfers
I am transferring through your airport. Can I carry liquid items in my hand luggage if they were purchased in the duty free store at my previous airport?

The items must be packaged in a sealed tamper-proof bag provided by the airport/airline, inside of which is proof of purchase showing that the items were bought on the day of travel.
OR
The items have been bought in the passenger-only zone at one of the following airports: all international airports in Canada and the USA; Dubrovnik, Pula, Rijeka, Split, Zadar and Zagreb in Croatia; Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia; or Changi in Singapore. The items must be packaged in a sealed tamper-proof bag provided by the airport, inside of which is proof of purchase showing that the items were bought within the last 36 hours.
