I have not seen anything that verifies that. Im not saying it wont be correct, but has there been any official guidelines laid down ?

As for AMEX transfers counting towards elite status, I was referring to TWA Elite Status, which was the question posed by wschild. As to Program-to-date miles on AA, presumably these miles would count, as AA is otherwise very liberal (i.e. they count everything). But don't expect to receive TWA status as a result of such transfers from AMEX in step one of the process.

Purely speculative. I've got no better idea than anyone else. However, I would opine that unless AA changes its current system, it would seem odd not to include one's TW miles, given that they include all miles from all other sources.

Confirming: AA has been very public about the fact that they count ALL miles, whether from flying, buying cereal or anything else, toward lifetime status. They use this to promote the fact that it's easier to reach 1MM/2MM/etc. status with them than with other airlines, and to justify somewhat lower benefits for getting there.

I see no reason why TWA miles should be any different. I hope they're not!

I dont disagree that any miles put into the AAdv system from any source will count towards program-to-date miles (millon miles etc). Im only saying, I have yet to read what is going to be migrated from TWA to AAdv. The last I saw, it was the balance in the account, and the elite status. So, if you xfr 100K AMEX miles into TWA and use 50K prior to the conversion, only 50K of that will migrate. Im only speculating on what little I have read, but I believe we should wait for an official announcement to avoid any misunderstanding, or disappointment.

Done: called Amex Sunday, in the TW account this AM. 500,751 TW miles.

What perks does a million miles get you on AA? Combined with the p-t-d with AA, I'm 2/3rds of the way there, though there's only about 50k in Aaadvantage now.

The main benefits of million-mile status are (1) lifetime Gold status, (2) eight electronic upgrade credits (good for 4,000 miles) and (3) luggage tags reflecting your elite status (Gold or higher) with a million-miler symbol. There are more goodies at 2 million.
