Am I alone?

Is anyone else having the same difficulties I'm encountering w/TWA? Recent experience includes "lost" upgrades,(I'm Elite 1 and called 3 days ahead, they told me it was upgraded and gave me a seat # but when I got to SAN it had vanished this past February)bad reroutings (Transworld One FF seat JFK-Barcelona this April, after dropping the route, meant a 7 hour layover in Lisbon and coach flights from Lisbon to Barcelona and back - no offer to rebook on another route -no offer to refund some miles because of incredibly long flight times and coach service on TAP but we couldn't/wouldn't cancel as we were meeting a cruise) and six weeks to get an award certificate (supposed to be Fedexed but couldn't as "Fedex can't pick up.") Huh?

I like the upgrades but so much else seems in terminal decline that I wonder if I should be building my mileage somewhere else. Agree? Disagree?

Bostom-

Flew with TWA for several years at Elite level - had some great flights and many upgrades - even became friends w/FA's on the europe flights, but... TWA has no real routes out of DC, everything goes thru St Louie and when TWA cancelled Madrid, Barcelona, and Rome I left - Contacted another airline that had the routes I wanted, sent proof of my status and was comped, built up some points thru a mileage run, creditcards/MCI-Sprint/FTD/etc... and have stuck with US Airways (Blah on United). So there ya go - You could very well have the same problems with another airline - Happy Trails!

Bostom,

Why are you using award certs? I've done all my award booking over the phone- no problems at all.

As far as upgrades, the automated system can be spotty at times. I usually call to make sure that it has cleared in the system. I've never had an upgrade disappear on me.

Needed a certificate to give as a gift. You're right - had no problems with the one time I needed a flight (for myself) w/miles.

Never lost an upgrade nor had a problem with an award seat. Only good experiences. There have been a few cancelled flights in the past and upgrades were not cross carrier (flew coach) but what do you expect when transferring to OAL. I have had similar experiences with Delta and Northwest.
