Cancelling flight - Agent doesn't react?
Hello Together,
after reading and profiting already from awesome tipps here for a while now - thanks for that - I have a question I couldn't find the answer to.
We've booked one of the TK eco error fares ex-Italy to Sao Paulo for next week. Due (but not only) to Zika my girlfriend and me now decided not to go - sad for that price, I know, but the decision not to go now is fix (you know, worrying families...).
We booked via submarinoviagens.com.br
As the flights got some time changes I wanted to use that to get the cancellation for free.
I called TK a few weeks ago:
Flight changes would only be possible within 4 weeks of original departure. A few months or so would've actually been ok for us to simply change the date, but that's still to short I fear.
So we'd like to cancel. TK told me that would definitely be possible, but need to go via the agent we booked.
Unfortunately no chance for us to reach the agent:
We tried calling. I didn't actually survive the Portuguese computer voice. A Portuguese friend of mine tried to call but got kicked out of the hotline 3 times with each over half an hour waiting and not reaching an agent. They didn't respond to my emails (3 of them) over a period of 6-8 weeks.
What can we do now? Can TK cancel it under these circumstances? Anything special we need to say or ground it on?
Any help is really appreciated.
Thanks
Pascal

Just write off the ticket - TK will not touch it. In the future, I recommend booking directly with TK.
I had a similar situation in December, except it was a $8000 of tickets for my family of 4. Talking with TK Elite Plus desk and the Agent both went nowhere, and the only way we managed to get a refund is by VDBing and then waiving compensation. It's unlikely that you'd be able to pull off a similar stunt, and for the price of an error fare it's not worth it anyway.

Also, depending on the fare rules, your ticket may be non-changable, non-refundable. In other words, whether you bother to cancel or just no-show, you would get nothing back.

Thanks guys!
I was hoping there's a chance due to the flight time changes. But yeah I'll try again with the agent but good to know it's not worth trying with TK.

Oh man, don't miss out because if tve absurd sensationalist reaction to zika! Unless you have another very good reason you can't go, or your girlfriend is pregnant, take the trip. Zika is not actually a bad viris, especially compared to other mosquito bourne illnesses such as dengue. It's just a mild flu, maybe less. Food poisoning would be a bigger worry
I'm based in Colombia and the reaction to zika in the West has been insane. It's been around for decades and actually nber been associated with infant malformities until Brazil last year. No cases of malformites in Colombia. There's actually strong evidence it's something other than zika causing that...

Hi all,
just to give you an update:
After 5 Calls to the Brazilian Agent (finally with a correct number) and at least the same amount to TK we've now been able to get a full refund. It'll take 60-90 days until the money is back, but that's fine.
BTW, I forgot to mention the ticket also has shown this:
"NO ADC TO DUE SCH CHG TK15/19MAR"
It was just frustrating that TK kept saying "yes you can get a full refund" and the agent kept denying and even said "TK said we can't refund because the changes are to small"
Anyway: Ende gut, alles gut!
I know... it's a shame. But we'll jump on the next good fare later this year!
