Congratulations, rozy!

It’s kind of telling that between all of us here, the last post in this thread was 2 1/2 years ago.

Actually, it is not very hard on European and Asian routes. I got op-up twice on IST-SGN. Once in Dec 16 and once in Mar 17. But not once on the way to the US. They are fully booked in C when Y is not. Always.

Not wanting to drive offtopic, but I do remember time ago getting op-up on HEL-IST route as Elite. And last time I upgraded with Elite+ vouchers and I was the only guy in business cabin on A321. On the contrary, longhauls have been pretty packed in C to the americas. Go figure.

Just recently I got upgraded too, for the second time after an upgrade on LX short haul. Interestingly I was already sitting in my Y seat when a cabin crew member asked to see my boarding pass. A person next to him had "Standby" on the boarding pass, but handwritten the seat number I was sitting in. The cabin crew member then told me that I sit in row 1, business class. The looks my neighbors gave me Apparently the upgrade happened after I boarded and that's why I didn't have the updated boarding pass.

Not a huge upgrade, but nice recognition for being Elite Plus.

Route: IST-ZRH
Booked cabin: Economy Class
Upgraded cabin: Business Class
Number of passengers: 1
Date: February 2017
Miles&Smiles level: Elite Plus

I should have made myself clearer. I am just Elite and both of my parents are classic only.

Probably right. Although I've rarely been on a flight between Turkey and Germany that wasn't pretty well booked

Where did you get the op-up, at the check in desk? And did you ask for it or did they just tell you that you got the op-up?
