leg room

Hi, I am flying economy Istanbul to Cape Town in a few days. Since it is my first long-haul flight i am worried about the leg room. I am 2m tall(6"7). Is the 90 EUR upgrade for the extra leg room worth it? Seatguru says the aircraft is the A330-300.

Hi nikolas2232 and welcome to FlyerTalk!

First, be aware that extra-legroom seats ( not exit-row ones ) are selectable for free during OLCI and exit-row ones are selectable at airport check-in for free.
However, if you don't want to risk your chance and if you don't feel comfortable when your knees would touch the seat in front, pay for the seat.
A warning that row 6 has less legroom than the exit row at the back but has more legroom than regular rows.

I am seeing a very strange seat map for flights between IST and JNB.

Here is the image of what I am seeing as far as seat selection option using a dummy booking. It seems to show a staggered 1-2-1 seating pattern for an A330-300. I have never seen that kind of seat map for a TK A330 before.

Spoiler

This is the configuration of a TK A350-900.

Thanks, I just noticed that myself. I have been seeing that the IST-JNB flights have switched from a default of A330-300's to 797-9 as you get further out in the schedule (my dummy booking was in March 2023).

Seat map pictorial "glitch"? 789 and 35E

Clarification needed from the experts:
Flying TK162 (IST-SGN) and TK165. (HAN-IST) in J. Aircraft have been been changing since first booked, which is expected.
At the moment TK162 is a 789 while TK165 has just changed to 35E.
I was under the impression that the seating on both of these was in a 1-2-1 configuration throughout the J cabins.
However, on the seat maps (EF and LH), the rows seem to represent 1-2-1 alternating with 2-2. E.g., according to these maps, 2A and 2D are next to each other, not separated by the aisle. Is this just a pictorial “glitch”?
We are a couple and would like to sit together so I just want to confirm that the only seats next to each other are the E and F seats on both of these aircraft.

Thanks.

The following seating diagrams may shed some light. I should mention the links below will take you to a website I own and manage.

Thank you for the aerolopa website Prospero. I did check your seat maps and they also show the aisle between the A and D seats on both the 789 and the 350 (35E). I imagine this is the correct info (1-2-1 throughout).
I just wanted to be 100% sure as I'd prefer not to have to toast my SO either across the aisle (A&D/G&K) or reaching across/around a partition (D&G). The experflyer (and LH.com) seat maps are a bit misleading in that regard.
We have selected E&F seats but just wanting to confirm. No crisis - just a slight issue of being a planning-ahead-perfectionist.
Cheers.

Hi,

I’m new to FlyerTalk but found this thread.

Me and my SO are flying TK 164 IST-HAN and TK 025 TPE-IST in November. Both flights are booked as award tickets through SAS Eurobonus.

My booking for TK 164 says Boeing 777-300ER and hasn’t changed which I assume is correct atm.

However, the TK 025 booking changed from 777-300ER to a 787-9 a week or so ago. Now when I check, Turkish airlines app seems to have reverted back to 777-300ER while my booking in SAS still says 787-9. Which of these should I trust? And should I just wait and see or should I continuously change seats when/if the aircraft changes

Thanks so much for your help

/Daniel

I assume the issue is TK has updated their schedule and SK has not picked up the change in aircraft back to a 77W. I just checked the entire month of November for TK25 on ExpertFlyer and the published schedule lists the fight as exclusively operated as a 77W.

ok, thanks for the reply! I’ll keep an eye out on TKs app but otherwise assume it’ll be 77w.

Hi again, I also realised that the flight TK164 says 777 on expert flyer but the seat map on TK app and Expertflyer shows a 787 seat map. The TK app doesn’t specify aircraft at this moment. Do you know if there’s anything to do or just wait and see?

Thanks, I’ll wait and see but it’s been like this for a couple of weeks now so I figured I’d ask.
