So Turkish Airlines is a staggered program?

I joined Turkish Airlines believing that only 40 000 status miles are needed for gold. However, when I now reached Silver, and a bit more, I have realized I might be wrong. Because the status miles resets to 0 when reaching silver. Also, the page about the Gold card ( http://www.thy.com/en-INT/miles_and_...art_elite.aspx ) states that "Classic Plus card holders need to reach 40.000 Status Miles within 12 consecutive months in order to qualify for Elite Membership".

This might all be obvious to regular TK flyers, but I have seen the figure 40 000 miles for Gold posted in various places, lately in View from the Wing blog (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/viewfr...e-gold-status/).

Or please tell me I am wrong and that I will reach gold at 25000+15000 status miles!

Ripper, don't worry. You'll be an elite member (**G) on THY when you collect 40k status miles (25k+15k) within a year.

The wording is confusing indeed and they zero out your status miles when status is upgraded, but you only need 15K more for Elite. Then 40K more for Elite Plus.

Click on the "Calculate miles for upgrade status" and that will confirm it.

Yes, I can confirm you'll make to Elite if you do 40'000 within one year. I find the two buttons/links on the right hand side of the M&S account page quite useful, rather than the mileage counter itself:

- Calculate Miles for Upgrade Status: Shows how many miles you need by which date achieve a higher status.
- Card Renewal: Shows how many miles you need by which date to maintain your current status.

Thank you all for the calming words - I was worried my gold would still be far away. But when reading the TK website, it really sounds like I need to have a Classic Plus before I can get the 40 000 miles.

In the future, I will use the calculator as you guys suggest. Thanks!

Any non-Turkish status bonus miles?

I'm doing a Star alliance business (D) RTW trip--does Turkish give 1 status mile for 1 flown mile for UA/SQ, or is there a bonus for being in business?

Thanks,
SHawn

You should get at least 150%.
