yes: x2
no: x1

Depends on the agents. What I have done is blur my fingerprints to get the card then gone to front of line with daughter. Has worked twice, once not

Well I got to use my GE for the first time at IAD yesterday morning inbound from Dubai. Worked like a charm and I must have set a personal record for time from plane to in terminal ready for connection. With carry on only it was less than 5 minutes. Of course, the IAD UA mid-field customs is a big part of that but still really liked the GE deal.

I just used my GE first time yesterday at ORD connecting a flight from ZRH to IAH. When I entered the immigration area there must have been 200-300 people in line, it was all the way past the ropes out into the walkway; I bellied up to the GE kiosk started the process and a pilot walked up to the one next to me and commented with a smile "best money you ever spent, huh?" Total was less than 5 minutes through customs and out the door. The nice thing is I was able to change terminals, get though security (first time through the body scanner...maybe comments on this for another post but it pissed me off to get scanned then get frisked as well, whats the point); and get boarded on an earlier flight home. No way I could have made it w/o the GE process; shaved two hours off arrival. Two thumbs up for Global Entry.^^

Did they send you to the back of the line the other time?

I tried at IAH earlier this week - no joy.

Would not have tried to go through GE separately w/out my wife and small kids, because my wife would have exacted enormous pain for leaving her with the kids.

Bags were already off the carousel by the time we got to baggage claim.

Greg

I have now done it twice at IAH with family and it worked both times to the front of the line. Each time the agent told me to go run my GE while he took care of the family. Very fast. YMMV.

Just used GE for 1st time yesterday on the TG BKK-LAX flight. Immigration lines at TBIT were unexpectedly light, so while I used the kiosk and was first passenger at the baggage belt, my bags (of course) were not timely in getting off. However, by the time I got everything and headed for the GE Customs exit, the regular Customs lines were quite long with at least a couple of Asia flights already queued up, many families carrying everything but the kitchen sink. Found the GE Customs exit line and got called right up, still managed to shave overall time through the process. So far, I likee! I'm sure I'll like it even better when I can travel carry-on only--not an option this trip.

We were probably there at the same time on Sunday afternoon? I had just gotten off my flight, and the lines were atrocious. A pilot and I were the only ones using the kiosks, and it was my first time using GE. I had some trouble getting the kiosk to read my passport, but it eventually worked. Time at the kiosk was less than a minute. My suitcase was unbelievably the 2nd one off an A340, and I was outside within 5 minutes as well. I give ^^ for GE just because it's not fun to wait in a line of hundreds of people after a long flight.

other countries?

This looks like a great program.

While looking through the programs website, I found this benefit mentioned: "Mutual benefits with other countries".

Can anyone tell, or point me to, the list of "other countries"? I was not able to find that anywhere on the official website.

Thanks.

Right now I believe it's only with the Netherlands' Privium program. Unless you typically transit through Schiphol, it won't be of much use. From what I've read, other EU countries such as Germany are looking to establish reciprocal agreements with the US in the near future.

The announcement for Germany is this one:

however, no idea when to expect anything, didn't see any announcements ever since...

Just put in my application today for Global Entry. Will report back when I get an interview, and the total time elapsed.

Petdog Jul 16, 2010 2:50 pm

I applied June 24, received conditional approval notice July 1, had my interview at JFK the morning of July 2 and received my approval notice the same day. It was a smooth, efficient process. ^

Now if only I'd registered for IRIS last time I was in London :(

iamhereandthere Jul 17, 2010 11:23 pm

Applied on 7/6, conditional approval 7/14, interview/approved 7/15. Quick and easy.

I have a 1:40 connection from SYD-LAX to LAX-JFK. No checked bags so I'm thinking with GE and elite security line @ LAX I won't have an issue. Thankfully have a longer connection for same flights in a few weeks so we'll see how it goes.

Ah, back in '08 I comfortably made a 1:11 connection on the same route. I had a checked bag, no GE (did it even exist?), and no elite status. I'm guessing you'll have time for a meal in between :)

I will be happy to enjoy a few self-pour drinks from the newly remodeled Delta Sky Club, especially if I don't get my FC upgrade to JFK. Something garlicky from CPK could be in order, too. :)

topcat_dcx Jul 20, 2010 11:18 am

Did anyone get their GE declined? Mine did - after a 1 month verification process. I didnt even get to the interview stage. Looking for any suggestions on how to appeal...
