Indeed, although it's amusing to think that by some metric LAX is well designed.

I've never gotten it on a final domestic return segment. Not even when I had the ticket counter issue a standby pass for an earlier flight.

TBIT is not bad when you compare it to other places.

+1
TBIT is a disgrace.
The only saving grace for me is that it is right beside T4 and AA.

Didn't work for me on the 17th, YQR-DEN-SAN (and I have NEXUS and GlobalEntry).

sorry for the newbie question, but....

Just received my GE card and am flying tomorrow on Southwest, which doesn't participate in Pre or trusted traveler. Can I show my GE card and use the Pre lane? Or does my itinerary need to be loaded into TSA's computer system to be able to use Pre check?

Thanks....

GE does not entitle you to Pre-Check. It allows you to enroll, but is otherwise unrelated. The GE card means nothing in this context. If the airline doesn't participate, you will not have Pre-Check. Your BP has to be valid for Pre-Check for you to be able to use that lane.

Cheers.

You have to fly with a carrier that supports TSA Pre-check (as it is encoded in your boarding pass). Your GE card doesn't really do anything (atleast for me -- I stopped carrying it around).

Having GE increases your odds (if you've registered it with your carrier) - but having it, in and of itself, does nothing.

I've had GE for years and I haven't been able to use Pre yet. None of my itineraries have been eligible.

FYI from the the CBP webpage on sequestration castration:

Will sequestration curtail CBPs trusted traveler and trader programs?

All trusted traveler and trusted trader programs will be maintained, including Global Entry, SENTRI, Nexus, and FAST. Membership in these programs allows for faster processing as a general rule and members will also receive these same benefits during sequestration. However, we do expect longer approval times on new trusted traveler applications because of increased demand.

I'm terribly confused so posting for a bit of advice. Apologies for what I'm sure are elementary questions.

My wife and I travel to Canada somewhat frequently, either by air, car or boat (we own land on Manatoulin Island plus cruise often). We also fly internationally a few times a year usually to Germany.

Am I correct if we apply for GE, we get Nexus without having to pay extra? I am confused, it might be the othe way (Nexus can double-dip with GE).

Secondly, when we (hopefully) get approval how do we parlay that membership into Pre?
