Just to clarify, it you received Global Entry by having Nexus, are you actually supposed to have a separate Global Entry card, or just the Nexus card?
I (and all members of my family) with Nexus cards don't have separate Global Entry cards. Will be flying through YVR (US-Preclearance), don't want to get denied from using the GE lanes. Thanks! |

I was there earlier this month and the only one asking for GE or Nexus cards was before security. As I mentioned in another post, we were able to access the expedited security line without our GE cards by showing the old CBP sticker in our passports. Post security, there were just signs and stanchions directing people to GE or the other lines.

As CKDGM mentioned, you only need your NEXUS card. My Global Entry and NEXUS cards look identical. Since my NEXUS card expires later than my GE card, I just cut up my GE card to avoid confusion.

That actually bugs me a bit. They are different programs with different qualification criteria. You'd think they could be bothered to use different designs, rather than just replace the heading at the top of the card. I understand SENTRI and FAST cards look the same also.

Maybe we need to start a separate "crappy GE card picture" thread :D

Almost turned away from GE for not having ID card
Odd experience at YYZ yesterday afternoon with GE:
Connecting from ICN back to the US via YYZ yesterday and jumped into the GE lane for preclearance. Once I was at the head of the line for security, agent asked to see my GE ID card. I told him I wasn't carrying it (never have in 3 years) and was never instructed to do so. He claimed he had no way of verifying that I actually was GE and said that he is allowed to remove me from the GE lane since I wasn't carrying my GE ID to be scanned by him. I again mentioned that I had never been asked to prove my membership and that my "claim" of having GE would be tested once the kiosk scanned my passport, where my membership is encoded. He finally deferred and let me go, but not without reminding me to carry my GE ID in the future. Now, this is the first time I've used GE with Canada/US preclearance, so is it possible I was mistaken and expecting the same processing experience I've had in the US? I have never been asked to prove my membership or display an ID for scanning before. Just wondering if I was mistaken or if this was an agent with misinformation. |

It was not a mistake. You are required to show your GE/NEXUS card in order to use GE/NEXUS security line (similar to TSA Pre Check line in the U.S.)

That is a Canadian requirement, not U.S. One FTer reported success by showing Global Entry sticker in his/her passport. GE card is now automatically issued for free.

I was asked for my card in Miami at the cruise port. They were not going to let me use the GE if I did not have the card. I had just finished my first renewal and received my card. I had my first GE interview I never received a card so if I had not just renewed it I would not have a card. I had just finished my first renewal and received my card. GE card question
Is a new GE card automatically sent when renewal approved? Renewal was granted without an interview.
