Well, here I am with 6 TSA agents surrounding me emptying my wallet and turning my ballcap inside out.
- I am on a *domestic* flight from TPA-DFW for business on a Monday morning
- I am a resident of Tampa, and have global entry and precheck
- this ticket was purchased by my work ~5 weeks ago
- I have not been anywhere strange lately, and have no int’l trips booked
- I am totally dumbfounded here, nothing is strange about by travel patterns, this trip, or going to Dallas on a Monday???
——
it started last night when the app wouldnt give me a BP, and told me to see agent. Agent tried to re-input my Precheck number to no avail.
it was definitely a bit of a “big deal” at TPA and I could tell not normal. They immediately called for supervisor. I had to go through several metal defectors, scanners, and a full pat down including looking at the bottoms of my feet.
I scanned this thread at the gate and don’t see a ton of domestic flights getting this SSSS. Anyways, what an experience.
I usually fly through pre-check and here I am getting the total opposite.
any ideas??

Got the dreaded SSSS on a South America - PTY - DEN - YVR ticket. 016 ticket, but SA-PTY and PTY-DEN are CM operated and DEN-YVR AC operated. I have GE, clean background. SSSS is on both CM tickets, but the AC DEN-YVR has pre-check. It is a one-way ticket. US citizen/passport holder, with residency in the SA country of origin.
That's my second SSSS this year... last time before this year was a few decades back. Earlier this year they SSSS'd me in Panama and it was not pleasant.
Any idea what might've changed?

Hey, some of y'all are lucky! Y'all never had to go through the harrowing process of getting the SSSS on your boarding pass as a 14 year old with your parents freaking out why your boarding pass wouldn't generate (that too flying back the day before school starts after visiting India for summer vacation). And then being forced to go through a complete strip search by a German agent who spoke to you in the most condescending tone ever. Also because an under-18-y/o was chosen, my family had the additional "pleasure" of having a parent escort me and additionally getting strip searched (they basically forced my mom into accompanying me because at Frankfurt, it's a completely separate queue). Sometimes security risk factor choices can be WILD.
