On the TTP website it says new applications are treated within 12-14 months, but I assume most of that is waiting for the in person interview?

First time NEXUS application: December 9, 2022
Conditional Approval: August 15, 2023
Interview scheduled at Detroit: August 30,2023

Just applied today for my infant daughter, born January. Can't believe I waited so long to file for her lol. Fingers crossed it goes quick.

Conditional approval: August 8, 2023

I scheduled my interview for August 18, 2023 in Blaine, WA after finding a last minute cancelation. The officers were very nice, albeit pretty sarcastic during the interview. (I am assuming that’s how they make their job interesting, which I can’t blame them for.) I noticed I was not immediately approved after my interview, which was strange considering I was immediately approved after my Global Entry Enrollment on Arrival interview. I called the Blaine Enrollment Center 20 minutes ago and the CBP officer who answered my call noticed that, for some reason, part of my residence information was missing! I quickly filled him in on the details over the phone and he fixed it, and the approval notification came in immediately. So glad I called in this morning. He said I’d be receiving my card in 7-10 business days.

With all that being said…

Interview: August 18, 2023
Approval: August 20, 2023

Thanks for posting this. I applied for 2 kids in mid-January, so this gives me hope that their approval may come next month. However, it sounds like kid applications may be taking longer.

I assume you applied in the US and as an adult?

  • First time Nexus application: May 2022
  • Conditional Approval: August 9 2023
  • Interviewed at Niagara Falls Enrollment Centre in mid October 2023
  • Full Approval (verified on website) same day as interview
  • Should receive card sometime in November 2023 if it doesn't get lost in the mail.
Applied in Canada as a Canadian. All told it will be about 1.5 years total from beginning to end.

I called this number today, Thursday, April 06, 2023. Someone answered almost instantly. He was very nice and helpful. He looked up my application, and said that my application is in the 2nd to the last stage, and that I'm ahead of most of the 300,000 waiting applicants. I have no idea what "2nd to the last stage" means, but it sounds good!

I applied in September 2022, so I'm only 7 months in at the moment. We'll see what happens.

Did your get approved for an interview? I applied last September and I'm still waiting for a response.

Minor US citizen 1 year old child with both parents and one sibling already existing Nexus members for over three years (all married and living together, so no custody issues), and a decent history of air and land travel
Applied April 2022
Conditionally Approved August 2023
total time 18 months

annoying that even though it’s about as straightforward a case as can be it still took this long.

Am sure plenty of applications are straightforward. It's just the sheer volume in the backlog that takes this long for most people.

There are some reports in this thread and elsewhere in the Trusted Travelers forum of Global Entry members who applied for NEXUS and received final approval of their applications without being interviewed.

Was that something recently or a while back that they got approved without needing an interview?

My minor son's Nexus renewal went through without an interview. My, even more minor, daughter has GE and we submitted for her Nexus now as well last month. Will update on if an interview is required.

Quite lucky here. I had heard some people got quick conditional approvals back in March and applied myself. Canadian citizen living in Canada.

Applied March 15, 2023
Conditional approval March 21 (!)
Interview (Derby Line, VT): July 13
Same day approval (took a few hours)

Initially took an interview at YUL, but heard the interview process changed and the US side would take place during a way too short layover, so I opted for doing everything on the same day at the "closest" land enrollment center.

Applied for NEXUS for my newborn, just got conditional approval, but no appointments at my nearest enrollment center (Blaine, WA)

First time Nexus application: Dec 14 2022

Conditional Approval: August 30 2023

Interview at Detroit was quick and easy - no more than a couple of minutes.

For those traveling to the Detroit centre, please allow time for crossing the Ambassador bridge which is super busy with lots of truck traffic. Getting to the Enrolment Center is tricky, so allow additional time in case you get lost. If you do get lost, just follow signs for "Bridge to Canada" and stay alert and bear left while looking out for signs that say "NEXUS/FAST"
