Beverages

Champagne and Wine

Champagne

Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve, Champagne, France
Champagne, situated in the north of France with its cold climate and famous limestone soils is one of the most famous wine regions in the world in both historic and quality terms. Charles Heidsieck, established in 1851, by Charles, a scion of the famous Heidsieck family, is now one of the most admired Houses in Champagne today. Made by "chef de cave" Thierry Roset, this multi-vintage wine is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced from 60 different vineyard sites. Remarkably, over 40% of the blend is made up of older reserve wines which gives Charles Heidsieck its distinctive honeyed complexity, richness and maturity.

White

2017 Bouchard Pere & Fils Pouilly-Fuisse, Maconnais, Burgundy, France
Pouilly-Fuisse is the insider's go-to region for delicious, reliable white wines from Burgundy. Located south of Burgundy's more famous regions such as Chablis and Cote d'Or, Pouilly-Fuisse enjoys more sunshine and produces wines with delightful vibrancy and generosity. In the hands of one of Burgundy's top negociants, Bouchard Pere et Fils, this wine is fresh, vivacious with an array of ripe fruit flavors including pear, peaches and rock melon. The palate is balanced and fresh with a lingering finish. Bouchard is one of the oldest producers in Burgundy, founded in 1731, farming 130 hectares of their own vineyards. Although no longer family owned since it was purchased by Champagne house Joseph Henriot in 1995, the philosophy of small, artisanal winemaking and commitment to quality will remain.

2017/2018 Mount Riley Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand
New Zealand's Marlborough region is home to many of the world's most distinctive Sauvignon Blanc wines. This racy and vibrant style has a strong international reputation and is typified by a lifted herbaceous leafy aroma, crisp mouthwatering acidity and wonderful overall freshness. Established by the Buchanan family in 1992 and run by founder John, his daughter Amy and son-in-law Matt Murphy, Mt Riley has an excellent reputation for outstanding Sauvignon Blanc.

Red Wine

2015 Chateau Rahoul, Graves, Bordeaux, France
Graves is the birthplace of wine in Bordeaux : the site that Romans chose to first plant vines 2,000 years ago. The region lies in the heart of Bordeaux and derives its name from the gravelly soil which aids in drainage as well as heat retention. Chateau Rahoul is a beautiful property in Graves that dates back to the 17th century offering wines with exceptional grace and balance. 2015 is a huge success for Rahoul : the warm sunny conditions provided exceptionally ripe, grapes that has been crafted into a fruity, delicious, fleshy wine composed mainly of Merlot, one-third Cabernet Sauvignon and a touch of Petit Verdot.

OR

2015 Chateau Bellevue Fronsac, Bordeaux, France
Le Chateau de La Dauphine is in the heart of 53 hectares (130 acres) of vines where 13 hectares are dedicated for the production of Chateau Bellevue. The southerly exposed vineyard, takes the form of an amphitheatre, with a 60 metre height difference separating the highest and lowest parcels. The 14 different soil types fall into three main groups : clay-limestone plateaux on a limestone subsoil containing starfish fossils; clay-limestone slopes on a shallow subsoil of Fronsac molasses; clay-silt-sand on a clay subsoil at the foot of the slopes. And biodynamic farming are used in order to respect nature and men. Of 100% merlot, vintage 2015 was characterized by an early, fast, uniform flowering and ripening period, in excellent conditions.

2015 Zonte's Footsteps "The Lake Doctor" Shiraz, Langhorne Creek, Australia
The Langhorne Creek region is 70 kilometres south-east of Adelaide on the shores of Lake Alexandrina. Grapes grow easily in the fertile soil of the region. The climate is warm but modified significantly by the southerly breezes from the ocean that cool the vineyards during the ripening season - the phenomenon from which "The Lake Doctor" takes its name. Zonte's Footsteps, is a collaboration of wine industry friends who established the label in 2003. Wines are made by veteran winemaker Ben Riggs.

OR

2017 Robert Oatley Shiraz, McLaren Vale, Australia
Robert Oatley Vineyards was founded by the late Bob Oatley in 2006. Bob was well known for multiple successes in competitive sailing, tourism and of course wine. The Oatley wines are made by highly rated consultant winemaker Larry Cherubino and are sourced from a diverse range of quality regions across Australia. This grapes for this wine were grown in McLaren Vale south of Adelaide where Shiraz thrives in the dry warm Mediterranean climate. It has a deep red colour, ripe but not over-ripe Shiraz aromatics, and a soft yet intensive palate. An excellent example of modern McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Port

Dow's 10-Year-Old Tawny Port, Duoro, Portugal
Port begins its life as a fiery, purple sweet wine. It takes a long time to soften and mellow. This wine has been lying quietly in its barrel for 10 years, slowly losing its fierceness and transforming itself into a gentle amber wine, laden with fig, plum and raspberry fruit.

White

2017 Antonin Rodet Vire-Clesse L'Epinet, Maconnais, Burgundy, France
Established in Mercurey in the heart of the Burgundian Cote Chalonnaise, Maison Antonin Rodet cultivates a 90-hectare vineyard over the appellation as well as on the villages of Maranges since 1875. The terroir of "L'Epinet" is very specific and planted with old vines (50 years in average) that grow on the top of the slope. There, the terroir is composed of a red-clay based subsoil and a stony ground that produce wines with great minerality and roundness. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth for its fruitiness, alone as an aperitif or as a companion to your meal.

OR

Although no longer family owned since it was purchased by Champagne house Joseph Henriot in 1995, the philosophy of small, artisanal winemaking and commitment to quality still remains.

2014 Marchesi De Frescobaldi Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva, Tuscany, Italy
Chianti Rufina is among the highest quality Chianti regions in Tuscany producing delicious dark cherry-scented red wines from Sangiovese grapes. This charming Chianti is a wonderful example of the quality of red wines produced by the renown Frescobaldi family whose roots in the region date back 700 years. The wine is produced in an ancient castle called Nipozzano in the heart of Chianti Rufina. This generous wine offers layers of cherry, blackcurrant and roasted herb flavors with velvety firm tannins. Nipozzano is a full-bodied red that is sophisticated and quite modern in style but remains firmly rooted in its traditional roots.

OR

2016 Fontanafredda Briccotondo Piemonte Barbera, Piedmont, Italy
Wines from Piedmont made from Nebbiolo, such as Barolo and Barbaresco, can be quite tannic and difficult to enjoy in its youth but Barbera is quite the opposite. Barbera has light tannin despite its deep ruby color with vibrant fruit character. Fontanafredda has long been a benchmark producer of Barbera since the 1880s. This delicious, juicy Barbera is filled with blackberry, red plum and cherry fruit with layers of fresh herbs and pepper. It spends only a brief time in oak, about six months, in a mix of both large Slavonian oak casks and French barrels. The wine's supple, light tannins and brilliant fruit character means it is delicious to enjoy now.
