Stop Four: Ironic taproom
Ironically this has absolutely no signage apart from the Tephra sign outside, go figure!
A real spit and sawdust place

No receipt as this is a pay at the bar place but 22 Lei for two small beers as one of them is the most expensive on the board at 15 lei per 100ml
The emergency meeting IPA and the Wild Thyme Saison which is a 2022 vintage at close to 15 a pint.

Id like to say that the wild thyme was amazing but alas no, it definitely tasted very strongly of thyme, very weird! The emergency meeting was very drinkable. This is definitely the hangout for the Romanian version of the CAMRA crowd.

Stop Six: Zaganu
Quite a walk from the last hostelry and onto the Calea Victoriei, one of the main drags in Bucharest

Beer here is only served by the 400ml glass and so Ive
stuck with the Zaganu Pilsner that Ive had before

And they have a hotdog heater IYKYK

Approaching four hours into the wander and it is time to find some food to help with soaking up the beer. Its a 17 minute walk to the next venue so lets see what we pass along the way.

Stop Six: Hop hooligans

Beers of choice here have been the Every Day is Pretzel Day and the Empire of Light
Surprisingly, the empire of light was my favourite of the two, clean and fruity, did not expect that.
No real food options on the way here so it is a tub of beer chips to keep me going. These are pretty nasty, ate one, left the rest!

Edit: and the receipt

The next planned stop is Beer Oclock which is not open until 5pm. Checking the map I noticed that it is no distance at all from Hanu Lui Manoc. Yes, this place is a tourist trap, but the last time I was here the Mici were outstanding

A coffee to keep the caffeine demons at bay and an Ursus black as Ive not tried this one before.

Meatballs to start, and Mici for the main course

Meatballs starter

Deconstructed

Not so flat flatbread

Mici
Definitely needed this, I just realised that the only thing Ive eaten until now was about a third of the breakfast omelette. Time to tuck in.

Stop Seven: Beer OClock

Having had most of the beers on the draft menu I decided to go for the Schneiders Helles and, nope, no draft, but they did have it in bottles

This is another really nice crisp beer with a good bite.

Pushing on for seven hours into the grand wander and I’m all hopped out. I’ve actually come full circle and the hotel was only five minutes away and so its back to the room and time to put my feet up

Interesting walk. I'm honestly not sure if I would have the stamina for it anymore.
Also I had no idea Csiki sor was Erdelyi! I first encountered it in my local Hungarian restaurant (RIP) and then in a couple of places in Hungary and adjacent.... The logo makes a lot more sense now!

If you were wondering, no, I did not fall off the edge of the planet, nor into a beer induced coma. I’ve been chilling out and catching up with FT, and more recently, adding a wiki to the Favourite YouTuber thread on the BA forum, a piece of work I regretted starting by the time I was half way through!
It’s a touch after midnight so obviously no more plans for the night beyond bed and sleep!
