It's not often you read a TR on Kyrgyzstan - thanks for sharing!
I was really taken by both Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan when we drove through them ten years ago, and I genuinely do plan to return one of these days (if for no other reason than to finally travel the Pamir Highway, which I was unable to do on my last trip thanks to a drug war inconveniently breaking out). I thought the landscape in particular was just amazing. If you have a chance to get up to Song Kul lake, you should definitely take it!
I've not heard anyone say that the food was their highlight of that part of the world (bread aside - the bread was AMAZING) but each to their own!
If you're curious, you can read about our adventures there (and across the rest of the continent) here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/20126323-post37.html and our photos here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1332251&type=3
