There are people on the BA board that fly to Hawaii as a tier point run - some don't even stay the night. At least the OP was on a non-stop. Besides he would've missed out on the POG mimosa if he hadn't gone.

No, fortunately only one of the 4 from the outbound worked the return. And for "only 1 night?" The alternative is not going, and if I'm going to "run" for miles, unless it is emergency time of year, which I try and avoid, it will be something I can enjoy - 26+ hours on the ground, no mandatory early wake ups, pleasant weather, nice place to walk around, and the (now apparently illusory) opportunity to have pre-departure POG mimosas on each flight.
