Unused tickets

I arranged for 25 students to go on an spring break service trip, and because of distance, we chose to fly. The students paid a certain amount and we fund-raised the rest. With the money I purchased the plane tickets on Northwest. Two of the students were unable to participate, and now I’m left with tickets which are usable only by those individuals (who didn’t even pay enough to cover the $100.00 cancellation fee.) We have other service trips planned, but these students will be graduating, and won’t be able to participate. Neither of them are flyers, so the likelihood of tickets being used to purchase another ticket is slim. I’m not trying to cheat the airline, because these tickets don’t really belong to the students. Is there any way to allow someone else to use the remainder of the ticket?

Welcome to Flyertalk!!!

I think this question is best answered by the experts in the Northwest Airlines forum, so I will be relocating the thread there.

Thanks
