What do you look for in a trip report?

I am sorry if this is the wrong forum, I just thought this would be the best place to post it.

I am going to Italy on AA from ORD. I am going to Rome and Florence and will be taking the train. Do you want flight info mainly? Mainly city info? Mainly train info? Mainly hotel info?

Please help, I am gonna try to make a good trip report about this trip of a lifetime.

Thanks,
Patrick

I really don't care about the flight/lounges while traveling but I think I might be in a minority on this board in regards to this.

I am more interested in the following:

An insight into the culture.

A unique experience that Vanilla tourists either don't know about or steer away from.

A helpful clue to making the most of an experience you had, i.e. take the xyz train at this time because it will maximize your time there OR buy your tickets here as it will save this much money OR mentioning an easier way to do something.

A bit of humor.

Unique, authentic dining. I'm really not interested that a Taco Bell is open in Mexico.

There have been some trips where I take brief notes about almost everything I'm doing and then there are trips where I don't feel like it and thus don't. Most of all, just make sure you are enjoying yourself.

Have fun,

Willie

The best advice you can get.

While I like detailed reports that cover both the flights and what you did while there, everyone has their own style. Write the report that you would want to read, as it can serve as a nice memory for you.

I agree. I write what I want to read. I sometimes have to edit a bit because I send my trip reports to family and friends. Mom & Dad don't need to know ALL the fun I had.

All aspects are good, no rules really...of course I adore the pics and menu transcripts...

I am going to move this to TravelBuzz for better response.
