This flight was pretty nice. I checked in the night before on nwa.com and got the exit row, 1D. I like this seat a lot, it’s got extra space but you are not forced to talk to the FA like you end up being if you sit in 1A. The stop in Peoria was quick and the ground crew did a good job of turning us around quickly. We landed at about 9:00A in MSP but had a very scenic tour of the airport before parking at the new B concourse. Very impressive terminal! I checked the monitors and saw a 10:15A flight to DTW so I head all the way over to the F concourse to try and get on that flight standby. That was a very long walk, but there looks to be some sort of a train under construction that should help.

The agent was really helpful and put me on the standby list because the flight was “booked full” About 10:00A she called me up to the desk and handed me a boarding pass for “the last seat left on the plane”. I was 20B. Middle seat=bad. New 757-200=good. At least it was near the front, AND it was going to give me the chance of getting home a few hours early. The crew was very professional on this flight, they obviously had been doing their jobs for a long time. Great landing in DTW and quick taxi into the WorldGateway.

I went right to the gate to try and get on this flight too. The agent was awesome and was able to get me a seat right away. She even looked up and saw I had an exit row on the later flight and asked if I wanted an exit row on this flight too. She even said “you have a window exit, is that ok, or did you want the aisle sir?” Her little extra effort really was appreciated because I actual wanted an aisle seat on this flight because the window would not have reclined. The whole 30 min prior to landing thing was announced to death to ensure that nobody would get up and make us divert to Dulles. We did the approach down the river and I had a great view of the monuments, etc.
Overall: A
Another great trip on Northwest. Visiting both hubs in the same day was pretty neat, and I was happy to collect the extra frequent flier miles. I think NW has some of the best hubs in the nation. MSP and DTW are both truly superior facilities. All the NW staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful and really made my travel easier and more enjoyable. In this day and age where onboard “frills” are getting cut more and more, my airline of choice is the one that provides the best good old fashion customer service during all phases of the flight and runs a reliable operation. Northwest has made leaps and bounds in the customer service department since I started flying with them and all of my flights on this trip departed and arrived ahead of schedule. I am very happy to say that NW is my airline of choice and it is a real pleasure flying with them.
