Buster CT1K, thank you for a wonderful trip report. And please don't mind the barely housebroken readers that can't tell the difference between elitist and snob.

Now, lest you think me a hypocrite, apparently cutting in front of others is the done thing in Germany: an article in a German guidebook says that it's OK to cut infront of others, for example when you're in a big hurry. If others object, that's their prerogative, but you're entitled to try cutting the queue.
Individualism (or better egoism) is the big thing in Germany nowadays. In those situations other better educated Germans in line normally roll back their eyes, but don't say a word - they try not to match the image of an ueber-teacher who tells others what to do (but in reality, of course, it is just an unnecessary ueber-liberalism which supports bad behaviour of those fellas.)
Well, I'm sad to say: there's something (in fact: very much) rotten in the state of Germany...

I can't get the link to the return trip to work... has it been moved somewhere else?

Assuming this is a paid F ticket, I feel any perceived snobbery justified.
It's people who lay down the cash for F tickets, and perhaps have high demands, who have a right to have these demands, support our el cheapo tickets and great benefits.

I read this report without even looking at the original post date then realized it was some 3+ years old but, no worries, it made me wax nostalgic for Mrs. Paris and our amazing, uber-snobbish Twentieth Anniversary Trip to Roma and Paris which you can read all about at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=402640. Only true snobs would post links to months-old threads to flaunt them in front of underlings and the lesser fortunate...Southwest Airlines devotes and non-status flyers.
Les snobs vrais ne prendraient pas la peine mme de traduire de franais-anglais car j'ai fait ici pour montrer que je suis, tandis que je m'inquite pour ne pas penser cela, un snob vrai et certifi.
Loved reading the menus...that little sterling silver 3-layer tray each person gets when they serve the appetizers (not the caviar...it came on its own plate) was just amazing...I loved every minute in LH FC and can't wait to get back.
Thanks for sparking a pleasant memory!

As I started reading your report.....I got about 3/4's of the way through.....and I said: Huh - uh! That's wrong! Those Bogner sweatshirts were given away years ago. What is he writing about? Then I realized this is an old thread, resurrected from the dead!
I guess I am a snob, too. I know that dark blue Bogner are the old sweatshirts given on LH years ago, with the soft grey Boss and Aigner and others in between. And you know what........if that's what makes me a snob, I am glad to be one.
And this will make me more of a snob: in the last 10+ years, I have flown 25-30 times in LH F/C. I have always sat in 83A.....my fav seat in the air. And I don't even travel internationally on business.......those are my vacation trips.
Yep.....I bring my pillows, too. Down, thank you very much. Not feather.
And, Otto, by the way.........the hoi polloi would never be upgraded from coach to First. They would only make it to business class. It's the quasi-hoi polloi who get upgraded to First, but only from biz.
[Damn.....I surprise myself at what a snob I can be.]

That doesn't take anything away from the entertainment value of the report, though, perhaps it is an insight into what kind of person I will be saying "hello" to next to me the next time I get upgraded from the back of the plane. That is, if they haven't already stolen my pillow......

PS If you want a nice fluffy pillow on an airplane, bring one with you. I usually do.
