Roswell without Flying Objects

After some discussion with co-workers, it was decided that the best way to get to Roswell was to fly into Lubbock and drive 3 hours. The connections from ORD into Roswell (on commerical rather than UFOs) stink.

I made it there with no problems. I was at ORD early enough to catch an earlier flight to DFW and an earlier connection to LBB. (Not as lucky tonight as I write this at DFW on a two hour layover.)

While in Roswell, I even took the time to see the UFO museum. Not the Smithsonian. And, IMHO, not worth driving out of your way to see. But, hey, I was in town. Even the Arby's has a sign, "Aliens Welcome". Where is Signorvey Weaver when you need her??

Anyway, work down, I drive back to Lubbock on Thursday. I make good time getting to the airport. I am booked on the 4:14, but I ask if I can still make the 2:44. No problem, the 1:19 hasn't left yet (It is now 2:20 or so.) WEATHER IN DALLAS. For those of you that travel to DFW more than me, you can stop reading now. But I know now, that I am in for one heck of a month with 10 connections in DFW.

I board the 1:19 at 3:00 or so. For the rest of the passengers, this is their second time on the plane. We have a ground halt, but we are finally cleared to leave. So, we do. We get about halfway there and the pilot has the FAs take their seats (an ATR 64 seats). A few minutes later, we do a slow 180 turn. The pilot then announces that we are going back to LBB. The moans. We flew for more than two hours and ended up in our starting place.

We boarded no less than three more times. And we never left. The American Eagle people had some pizzas delivered and passed them around the plane.

It became too clear to me at 9:00 pm that even if I got to DFW, it was unlikely that I could connect to ORD. So, I surrendered to the weather gods and called a hotel.

The 6:51 flight the next day left without problems. I got home, a day late, and exhausted. And this week I get to do it all over again!!!
