Oh my, I love all your TRs. Amazing photography. What kind of camera and lenses do you use?

wp_kid Oct 12, 2014 10:49 pm

Just stunning. Great TR!

Thanks for posting DanielW. Another fabulous and interesting report with world class photography.

I especially liked "crying / drying" photo. Thumbs up for getting a great capture.

Absolutely spectacular!

Thanks for the report, really took me back to Nepal! I spent a lot of time there in 2005 and 2006, including walking that same trail you took. We just kept on going, and going, and going, until we reached the top of Everest after 54 days. And in all that time, I took not one photo as good as yours! You really captured the spirit of the wonderful people in Nepal. Loved it. You've inspired me to post a TR of my trip!

Thank you, MrAndMrsJones:) Would love to read about your Everest adventure, no doubt rivetting and very inspirational for us mere mortals.

Wonderful report and simply spectacular pics. Thanks for whetting my appetite as I'll be there in three weeks with one of my sons.

Thank you, SFO777, you'll have a great time in Nepal, beautiful scenery and very friendly people:).

Great report DanielW! I've always been curious to see Nepal and Everest, particularly after seeing the Everest Beyond the Limit show on Discovery.

Always great to relive the experience through your camera lens.

Thank you, shogunate03, definitely recommend making the trip over, a great place to see and explore.

You have a fantastic eye, Daniel, with some truly well-composed (and lit) shots.

I've not read any of your other TRs, though I am searching them out now. And thanks to your report, I'm adding this to my "Travel Bucket List".

Best,
-aa

Thank you, aa213bb, yes, getting a glimpse of the 'top of the world' was really amazing and magical and should be on everyone's list:).

Many thanks, worldtraveller73:). I have two versions of that photo, one before (not crying) and one after (crying). Decided the crying one looked a little more interesting though:D.

Completely awesome. I was mesmerized by your incredible pictures and your story. I would love to go there but don't think I would do well due to my asthma. Low oxygen levels and asthma don't work well together. I'll just look at your pictures and visit vicariously.

Thank you, cruisr:). The high altitude is definitely a challenge. There are emergency hyperbaric tents though available (some of the groups even carry one with them on the trek) in case people start to succumb to the thin air.

Absolutely stunning trip report, DanielW! So many of your pictures left me speechless and you reinvigorated a longstanding dream of mine to visit Kathmandu to complete a similar hike. Thank you so much for sharing.

WOW. One of my favourite TR on FT. It is nice to have a break reading more about a location instead of just the flight to get there!

matthandy Oct 14, 2014 7:40 am

A stunning trip with some stunning photos DanielW.

Your photography really oozes confidence. You clearly have a great eye and the skill and will to capture interesting and unusual photos. I particularly liked the image of the donkey going over the bridge and the pigeons taking flight in front of the building.

Being able to capture portraits of locals shows that you are able to quickly build a good rapport with your subject even if you don't share the same language.

I'm extremely envious of the trips that you take and the photos that you produce as a result. What amazing memories.

Did you climb to the Everest Base Camp?

I am planning a 15 day trip up to the base camp next July. Thanks for your pics -- now I am really looking forward to this.

broenor Oct 14, 2014 1:11 pm

Great trip report with amazing photos!

Bretteee Oct 14, 2014 4:56 pm

The pictures are gorgeous.

I am too scared to fly in Nepal on a domestic flight. They have had so many crashes.

QtownDave Oct 14, 2014 5:39 pm

Wonderful!

Thank you, FlyerBeek:). Was a really unique place for me, quite unlike another other trip I have done, and definitely recommend making a trip to Kathmandu and getting out into the mountains.

Thanks, alexisonsmith, yes, Flydubai is good from getting from A to B with little fanfare. The sights of Nepal made up for the boring flight though:).

Many thanks, matthandy:). I normally have a big cheesey grin when I approach people for a photo, helps to disarm people and realise I am not too scary:D.

The donkey over the bridge shot was quite fun too. My guide kept on motioning me to reverse off the bridge and get out of the way, but I was determined to wait and get the 'perfect' shot as they ambled towards me before retreating:).

I would have loved to go on to EBC, but I only had a few days leave with the Eid long weekend.

Envious of your planned EBC trek. Is July an ok to time go though (the company I went with suspends all trips from June-August because of the (monsoon) weather)?

Thank you, Bretteee:). There was actually the wreckage of a plane and a helicopter by the runway at LUA from previous mishaps:D:
