A lot of my favorites are already listed, especially the legendary "8 Bottles of Dom."

Of the newer reports, I believe that two of the best are Daniel W's Syria report (already noted several times) and FlyIgglesFly's "Double Shot of Minsk":

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip-...-currency.html

This story about a trip to Minsk (an otherwise boring town) is absolutely mind-blowing.

^^ for DanielW's, but also ironmanjt's and hauteboy's just for the locales visited where many of us would likely not travel.

Yup. Thread can be closed now. I don't think anything will compare. Sorry. Flying private, first, who knows does not compare.

the guy who was barrelling down the highway for days during a snow storm trying to get to the airport. Wish I remembered his name.

I really enjoyed this one:

edit:
This report is quite interesting as well

Airline lounges and first class seats do blur together after a while. It's the unique experiences and insiders' looks that make Trip Reports so thought-provoking.

There's a Hall of Fame thread here, too: Trip Reports: Hall of Fame

A suggestion for Mods here: could we merge these two threads and create a sticky with the best? Could make an interesting poll, or annual competition...

Last post in the Hall of Fame thread in 2013, last post here in 2017. These 2 numbers say it all.

In addition, I give kudos to JapesUK offerendum Concerto ironmanjt

That said, my respect goes to any writer that completes a report. I've had many false starts, with every intention of posting when I return to home, but end up not finding the time for even simple prose and a few pics.

Thanks to all of the successful writers as I've been inspired many times for my own trips, whether unique uses of miles, unique places to visit, and restaurants to try!

Shameless self-promotion: I got a number of "great TR" comments on a report I filed a couple of years ago that covered a trip I took to the USSR including Central Asia. Back in the USSR - Russia and Central Asia, 1974

Patting myself on the back exacerbates my arthritis.
