I'm accruing with AA, but I don't care about the miles -- I'm most interested in maximizing the experience, and that means I want to fly Qantas F on the 380 at least twice! ARN is not a must destination -- I am open to changing that. TLV is a must destination. I want to do side trips to Petra and Beirut if I can. Plus BA flighs first from London to TLV R/T, which makes it a very nice addition.

You can tell the officer you will go to other countries and please not to stamp your passport.. they usually won't.

Thanks everyone about the warnings about my forays into Jordan / Lebanon. I've booked everything refundable in terms of flights / hotels outside of Israel, in case for some reason they don't let me leave. One question for anybody who has recently done this... What should I say to the immigration officer at TLV when he tries to stamp my passport? Do I simply say that I would not like it stamped, or will he need an explanation? If he needs an explanation, what should I say -- e.g., I want to take a side trip to Jordan, and so want to avoid any complications?

I'm on AA177 (the first flight of your trip) on Feb. 15.
On the off chance you're on that flight on that date, please PM me if you want to meet in the AC before the flight.

Thanks for the note! For security reasons, I am going to need to keep my dates of travel private. If folks do want to tell me when they are flying, that would be great, and I can respond privately (as I will to you if indeed I am traveling Feb 15).

Incortect, there is no grey area regatding Jordan ...it is absolutely not a problem. You can even fly RJ from TLV or cross land borders as well. Lebanon is different and therefore do not get an Israeli stamp. To make matters more simply many I know have a 2nd passport for issues like this.

Thanks that's what I've been hearing. What I have organized are refundable flights into Jordan and Lebanon, and refundable hotels as well. So if I get my passport stamped in Israel, then I'll cancel Lebanon and just spend more time in Israel / Jordan. As it is, I have too much going on; in 10 days I am planning Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Petra, and Beirut. But I'm **dying** to see Beirut, so hope I can get there. If not, I'll make another trip with a new passport and just fly directly to Beirut from Europe...
