Enjoyed reading your trip report! I'm planning a short solo trip to Bogota + Cartagena in March. Your write-up has piqued my interest even more.
My itinerary: MIA-BOG roundtrip AA + BOG-CTG roundtrip Avianca
I tried to do MIA-BOG-CTG-MIA but it involved connections.
A few questions:
1) I will connect BOG-CTG on the same day with 2hr 15mn.
I read International flights arrive Main terminal (El Dorado).
Domestic (Avianca) flights depart Terminal 2 (Puente Areo).
How are the terminals connected (moving walkways, bus, etc)?
Do passengers still go through security at Terminal 2 for connecting flights?
2) In Cartagena, did you just use a taxi from CTG to your hotel?
Thanks in advance.

I really think that your connection time is no problem at all. It took us very little time to get through customs. We didn't have a connection as we spent a few days in BOG before continuing on to Cartegena. I believe you can just walk from the International Terminal to the Domestic terminal. BOG is pretty busy, but it ain't no ORD or ATL, by any means.
We had a tour-based trip so when we got to Cartegena, we had transportation from the airport to our hotel. The airport is not that far from town, and there are plenty of reasonable taxis.
To tell the truth, we traveled quite a bit around Cartegena, but never took a taxi, took the frequent, friendly and comfortable city buses all over!

When you arrive to BOG and after you pass Immigrations and Customs, but before you exit the terminal building, on the right you will see a small entrance for national connections. Just inside will be agents from AV to check you in. The agent will take your luggage and direct you down a hallway where you will wait for a shuttle bus to Puente Aereo.

Very nice TR indeed, ExGateAgt. I just took my first flight with AV (three more within the next couple of weeks) and share the mixed feelings.
I arrived to BOG a couple of days ago from EZE and it took me more than 1h30m to go through customs. Worse only at JFK...
