Sample Fare For Promotion: Meaningless (mostly)

Is anyone else annoyed with those "Huge Fare Sale" headlines for a particular airline promotion, especially domestic, and there's always one "amazing" "from $179" example that's supposed to hook you with no reference as to the city pair that fare would belong to? Those "from" prices mean absolutely nothing. What's the point? It could refer to an LGA-EWR fare or an SFO-OAK or MIA-FLL. Whoop-te-dooooo! Give me something specific before I waste my time checking into the promotion thinking that "from" fare could actually indicate a good deal.
Anyway, just had to get that off my chest. So annoying.

I'd be happy if it were even possible to check into the promotion at all.

Right now, aa.com is advertising

Flight Deals Across The U.S.
Find great flight deals to your favorite U.S. destination now at AA.com. Whether you're interested in exploring a new city or visiting friends and family, American Airlines has low fares that are sure to fit your budget. Purchase your flight on AA.com by September 17, 2009, and travel by January 27, 2010, and save!
...
Fares shown are just a sample of the many great sale fares available on AA.com.
... and then it lists 12 city pairs, only 3 of which happen to be from my home airport (and, yes, I'm logged in and have my home airport set). And there's no page to go to, nowhere to see a full list of what city pairs are on sale...
