But assuming I didn't quite have enough to charter a business jet, I'd like to try either Upper Class on Virgin or First/Biz class on Singapore, just because it would be nice to be pampered on the way to my destination rather than hampered.

That would be quite the fun trip, I could knock out all of the A380 routes in one go!
No it doesnt. Current A380 routes

If I had unlimited funds, forget commercial. I'm gonna go order a private jet and fly around the world in it. Somthing like JFK-YYZ-YVR-AKL-SYD-SIN-HKG-KIX-NRT-ZRH/LHR-JFK.

Anyone wanna chip in for a private 77L?

Either that or a custom designed A345/6 or a 744 with full house function..

As I said before, I want A380 that's grander than Prince AlWaleed bin Talal's.

My husband just brought home a brochure from the Georgetown University Alumni Association: Looks awfully good.
November 1-24, 2009
Around the World by Private Jet
Aircraft is a specially-configured B757 (88 seats).
Itinerary:
Depart: Orlando
Stops:
Lima, Cusco and Machu Piccu, Peru
Easter Island
Apia Samoa
Port Douglas & Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Angkor, Cambodia
Lhasa, Tibet
Agra, India
Tanzania Safari Adventure
Luxor and Giza, Egypt
Fez, Morocco

Cost PP (based on double occupancy) $56,950 (single supplement: $
8545)
I think this looks pretty fabulous and this is what I would do if I had "unlimited funds for a dream 'round the world' trip.
If anyone is actually interested in this, PM me. There is a Georgetown Alum phone number.

But not EQMs on the flight! (Lots of alumni associations and other groups have trips like this. My problem is --besides price-- that I've gone to more than half the places and there just isn't enough time in any place. But I do love to look at the brochures!)

This is almost exactly what I would do. The only 2 differences I would have is I would originate and end in PHL and rather than going from LAX-SYD I would go LAX-PPT-SYD.

Actually, forget getting a private 777, I'd spend the money to get Concorde airworthy again (apparently there's still an Air France one that has an operative nose) and fly around the world in that. Beat that.

I wouldn't worry so much about maximizing airtime. Comfortable airplane seats are a nice way to get there, but it is about the destination for me. If I could go anywhere I would look at the around the world cruise option mentioned. If I were flying I might look at the "where is matt" dancing 2008 video on youtube and see if I could come up with any ideas (without dancing badly).
