Rain and wind affecting a flight
I have a flight tomorrow and it is suppose to be a "steady rain" with winds gusting up to 25 mph. Will my flight be canceled? Do they still take off in "Steady Rain?" It's an 8:30 flight so early in morning. It's going east where the weather is fine. Please help me with as much info as possible. I'm worried it will be canceled and I will be stuck on Xmas eve...
It's on USAIRWAYS airbus A321...from SFO to PHL
Flight is 8:30 arriving PHL at 4:30....Thinking plane isn't coming from anywhere and am hoping it will be at the gate waiting...thoughts?

Depends on what airplane, which airport, etc. If it's a major airport on a big plane I would not worry too much. If it's a tiny airport on a propeller plane, there may be some delays.
Also depends on where the flight is coming in from, it may be delayed in getting to you so there may be problems getting out on time.

You can call the airport in the morning, but be there on time regardless and just bring some patience with you. There are a lot of people that have been trying to get to their destination for a couple of days and keep getting socked by weather and other delays. You might want to keep an eye on the monitor at the airport for other planes heading PHL or at least that direction, so if you do have a problem with your flight (which you very likely will not), you can offer the agent alternative flights that are going to depart shortly.
Out of SFO, there are sometimes early delays due to fog but stead rain in and of itself should not affect your flight. G'Luck and enjoy your trip.
Mods - this might do better in T-Buzz or USAirways forum.

SFO is often delayed due to weather as their ability to run parallel runways is impeded when visibility is low, but I can't imagine canceling. I flew SFO-PIT for 2+ years straight and only had 2 flight delayed more than an hour or so. With such a light schedule for US at SFO, it runs pretty efficiently.
UPDATE: Then again, there's a ground stop in Cleveland and Newark, and east radar is looking ugly, so keep an eye on the US and SFO flight status boards.
