VLML MEALS - post experiences here
After having some absolute crap food on LX in F and thinking back about some other bad meals i have put up with in the past. What airlines do it well or not?
I think it may help out a few to know what airlines I should be asking for asian veg or anything else to actually get a decent feed. I'm pretty fed up with getting fruit as a starter and the dessert.
I am going to keep adding to this post as I hope eventually this thread will be able to help make some infrmed choices about carrier.
All flights are long haul:
************************THE GOOD *****************************
BA's Meals - off the F/J Menu when they have it
AF- AVML
SQ - VLML & AVML
VS - They almost always have a vegetarian pasta option loaded as standard in Y
*************************The Bad*******************************
LX F (VLML)- plate of boiled veg was the main course, fruit to start and finish the meal.
NZ J (VLML) - the same meal as you would get in Y (the purser confirmed this to me)
LAN J (VLML) - cous cous with asparagus, carrot and mushrooms. Was not allowed to get anything off the menu unless there was any left - made to feel very un-welcome.
MH F (CPT-EZE)- no meal loaded, had the pasta off the menu, the FA said "this isn't good as it comes from JNB" and it wasn't

A bit offtopic..
I normally order HNML. Most airlines do provide me with chicken or lamb. But KLM/NW never seem to understand this. They always provide me a vegetarian meal (not even Asian). KLM, I saw in my last flight to IAD, they sticked Asian Vegetarian on it. NW was terrible always. They just put a sticker "Hindu meal" on the regular pasta menu they have. I am forced to take that though they have a choice of Chicken or Pasta. Why dont they understand I ordered a Non Vegetarian Meal and am not happy with Pasta.

I'm veggie but never count on the meal to be something edible...so usually pack a sandwich for long haul or eat at the airport for domestic.
My standard airport meal is a black bean burger at Chili's.
Probably the best meals are the pasta meals......but they are few and far between.
I've had amy's meatloaf on a plane too, that was pretty yummy.
I'm looking forward to flying to india when I can get an indian veggie meal.

Singapore Airlines' regular menu is generally great, but I order their Indian Vegetarian meal (they have various kinds of vegetarian meals) because I have some peculiar food sensitivities. Generally consists of a small salad, two curries and some rice, and a nice Indian dessert. Fairly consistent quality among stations. The Asian carriers tend to be quite good at catering special meals. My experience with Air Canada has been less than stellar.
