Looking for Info on Engine failure
Hi all,
New here. looking for information on a flight I was on in 83 or 84. Great Falls MT to SLC. Western airlines. 737 with a 2 engine failure. We diverted to Idaho Falls ID. Funny thing is that my father was the Station Manager for Western at Great Falls. Been searching for a FAA report or something of the sort. I was about 16 at the time. I still give my sister grief about her asking me where the parachutes where. Still makes me laugh. I can be reached at [email protected]
Thanks

We had a Western Airlines forum?
Anyway, I don't see anything in the NTSB database. A dual engine failure on a 737 would be very unusual. Sure it wasn't a single engine failure (or a 727)?

Unusual, but not unheard of. I remember a story of some pilots in Ukraine (Ukrainian Int'l Airlines), testing a "new" second-hand B737, from Lufthansa (not 100% sure of the airline). They had a few airline reps on board, including pilots. Somehow they ended up cutting off both engines. They were flying pretty low, so restarting was not an option. They managed to glide in safely. If I recall correctly, these pilots were test pilots that worked on Antonov heavy lifters, so it doesn't surprise me that they did what they did.
