Ticket title change

I booked a ticket with Icelandair the other day for myself and Ms. Majik. On reviewing the e-ticket Ms. Majik had Mr. before her name. I called the reservation office they assured me there would not be any problems at the airport and to not bother doing a name change. I called their US office but am flying between GLA and KEF and the last thing I need is a grumpy sub-contracted checkin agent disagreeing with what Icelandair said.

Has anybody here ever had issues with this on any airline in the past? Do check in agents ever bother to look at titles, do their systems at the desk even show them and have people been to forced to change it before they fly? Just wondering?

Some time ago Continental asked me if I had any title to add after my surname. I added PhD, as I have a doctorate degree.

In their wisdom, they changed my surname to Spainflyerphd. Repeated requests to have this changed have received standard, canned apologies but the error remains in the CO system.

When making telephone bookings I have had the sales agent ask me "How do you pronounce your last name, Sir?"

I can't do on-line check in because my name as printed on the ticket is not the same as the name on my passport.

I know the staff at the Madrid airport, so they let me board flights, but they have repeatedly told me I could have trouble trying to board in the US.

The CO customer service (I'm a One Pass Plantinum) insists "this is an IT question," and that the the systems people have to change it.

When I wrote to One Pass Customer Service for the Nth time, asking that a duplicate ticket be issued with my real name, I was told the only solution was to cancel my ticket, issue a refund, and for me to buy a new ticket, at a new price!

I expect you won't have a problem boarding, but watch out, Ms Majik could be forever Mr Majik in the airline's system!

Happened to me once on SQ and the TA just put a note on the PNR and I had no problems whatsoever.
