Stinky Passengers
Flew DRO-DEN-IND yesterday, and of course we had the young upcoming executive wanabee sitting next to us (DEN-IND) with WAY WAY WAY too much cologne on. In addition, behind us we had the two kids from hell that couldn't sit still for one minute.
Why does this always happen when I fly with my wife????
Of couse I tried to upgrade to F (as always), but I had no success.
If the GA can smell your stink when you are 25' away from the gate, shouldn't they reseat you in the last row?

This is more TravelBuzz! related than UA; as such, I'm moving it there.

I've requested to move seats if the plane isn't full if I've got annoying seatmates... (Especially on red-eyes and I need to sleep) Beyond that, there is not much more you can expect...

I feel your pain. I had a transcon the other day which the middle seat was filled at the last moment (standby, I guess) ... with a lady who absolutely reeked of cheap perfume. Yuck! Six hours of stink.
I've also had a few unfortunate UX flights where my seatmate apparently doesn't understand that modern convenience which is deodorant.
(One one, it was actually the woman one row behind me, who complained about her seat assignment the entire flight--I bet the person next to her had a much more legitimate complaint about seats!)
Unfortunately, these things are part & parcel of travel, and for that matter, society at large.

A few weeks ago, I was stuck to a passenger who had pretty bad BO for 2.5 hours on a prop plane. The sad part was that I wasn't even assigned to the seat next to him, but the FA asked those of us in the front to move to the back for weight reasons.

I've got a pretty high tolerance for bad smells, and I was literally trying not to gag. BLECCH.

Due to lack of direct flights, instead of taking a 4hr flight, I had to endure this: http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=p...OR=&MAP-STYLE=

Well, on my flight ....
I recently flew on Singapore Airlines from Singapore non-stop to Newark (U.S.). The flight was 17h 10min. Immediately upon boarding and being seated, the man next to me (in Business Class) removed his shoes AND his socks and began picking at his toes/toe nails with his bare hands. This went on for about one-half of an hour; then he fell asleep and stayed that way for about 8 hours. I am not sure if he ever washed his hands afterwards as I did not see him use the lavatory at all during the flight.

My problem isn't as much the stink...I lost my sense of smell several years ago due to a virus. But, even without smelling the stink of perfumes, my allergies kick in!
