I agree with the stealing part. It's not right.

If you absolutely must have a blanket bring your own. This blanket from Magellans seems to be pretty nice and only costs $20.
Costs more than the fleece (100% silk) but rolls up to about 10 x 2 inch, about the size of a small travel umbrella.

The pillows are tempting, but not the blankets.

I suppose if you are coming off a transcon or something that provides blankets and changing to an RJ, Saab or something that doesn't have the blankets and you are the type that is always cold, i can see why someone would.. this was only intended to comment on the why would someone take one..
on another version of this topic, it would be hard to take some of those F/J blankets as they are huge

When I was little, I use to love to take a bar of soap out of the bath room. It was miniture soap bars wrappend in the airline's logo.
Recently, after asking the FA, I kept a really nice wool blanket off of a J flight.

I have flown on more flights than I care to count to Port au Prince, Haiti. As we all know, Haiti does not, at least at this time, have a large tourist market; therefore, many of the people on the flight are going home to see family in Haiti. My point to all of this is, I can't count the number of times that I have seen people taking blankets, pillows, those little ceral containers from flight attendants carts, etc, to bring to family in that poverty stricken nation. I am not condoning it, but in certain circumstances some people may actually see a need to take the blanket and/or pillow. http://www.towncomputer.com/relief/haiti-poverty.jpg

I wont touch pil/blank without gloves on to pace them back into the bin.YUK YUK YUK
There is an ingenius invention which was made originally for deadheading f/a's cause wewouldt touch them. Turns out, It is a warm silk blankey with all sorts of bells and whistels comfy air pillow and a silk eye mask which is also hand made. They come in prins for guys anfd girls. It is smaill and lightweight to fit into a quart ziplock (i like mine to stay protected from the harsh treatment of my suitcase).
Everyone seems to go nut around me when I bust it out and am fast asleep in 5. upon awakening I will always have 2-3 people stop by my seat to as me who makes them....so here it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice but a little on the bulky side for my preferences. Have not tried it yet but I got one of these to try on my next Y TATL: http://www.magellans.com/store/In_Fl...etsIF545?Args=

Some people feel free to take anything that isn't nailed down. You get the same thing at hotels. Have y'all noticed the "We are happy that guests love our towels. If you'ld like to take one home $XX will be added to your bill." signs in the bathrooms?
I would have thought that an airplane blanket was cool when I was about 10, but now? Ah, not so much.

The PamBee's look nice. Have to think about that.
I do know a couple FTers who took the F-class blankets from LH (not on my flight). Blankets had an interesting design on them, but hey they're still airplane blankets. I wouldn't have bothered. Also I would have felt uncomfortable walking by the F-class attendants with them under my arm. They said the FAs didn't say anything (although I'm sure they thought something
).
Cheers.

Are the pillows and blankets washed or cleaned by the airline after use by passengers?

I was watching a way retro episode of The Family Feud on GSN today (hey, I'm on maternity leave, I'm allowed, but even aside from that, I LOVE the Family Feud!) and one of the questions was..."We surveyed 100 people blah blah blah...what have you taken from an airplane?"
The answers I can remember were a pillow, the miniature liquor bottles, magazines/book, glassware, and silverware. Heh. There were a couple of others too...but even the host mentioned "no wonder American Airlines is a billion dollars in debt" and this was sometime in the early to mid eighties.
Sorry to be off topic....but this thread totally reminded me of it. :-)
