Baggage allowances when using mutliple airlines

Hi,
If I am to use multiple airline carriers for a single trip,
then do I need the baggages to satisfy the requirements of all airlines?

I will be using Delta and Qantas. Qantas has the more restrictive baggage requirements, so I should pack according to Qantas requirements?

Thanks.

Depends on if you are able to check the luggage through to the final destination or if you have to pick it up and re-check it. in my experience the first carrier rules are used when able to check luggage through. If Carry on luggage question then the most restrictive else you will have to check your carry on half way through your trip.

My experience was the opposite, I flew LAX-ORD on AA & ORD-IST on TK (both sectors on the same ticket). Each carrier used the piece system, however for AA the maximum weight per piece was 50 LBS. (23 kilos) and for TK it was 70 LBS. (32 kilos). The TK allowance applied for the whole trip.

I think the rule was that whatever the applicable int'l baggage allowance is for the int'l sector applied for the whole trip, provided both flights are on the same ticket.

That is my understanding as well.

I am on a RTW trip with quite a few sectors within Europe and sometimes the check in agents have called their 'desk" to see if my two bags can be checked in without an extra charge. Of course they can because these flights are part of international itinerary.

If the OP is returning on the same airlines then plan for the most restrictive.
