Well, I was flying around on domestic flights in China, and I think this is the most crazy scenario I have ever seen. If they cannot find space for their bags, they take other people's bag out and put it on the aisle and then seat down. In the end, the FA stow the bags in a closet or something.

Well done sticking it to them!

If people board late, then I don't fault them for doing so, because there is usually nowhere else for their bags. It's the early boarders that's bad at this. Also those with crew luggage or aircraft equipment in their bins, I don't fault them either.

It was over 40 pounds? At least, I think that's the weight limit for carryons. I've never seen anyone weigh a carryon for a domestic flight, though. If it was too large, how would he get it under your seat or in the bins?

So you think I'm lying???? LMAO! It was a medium sized duffel (over what is "technically allowed" on an Airlink flight via a Saab) that wouldn't collapse. (Yes, smaller planes don't have the same rules for carry ons. I thoroughly explained the flight was aboard a tiny plane used for Airlink flights. Please check the requirements or consult someone who can confirm the requirements for plane side check in.) They wanted to green tag and plane side check it it but he protested and was allowed to take it on board. I suspect the gate agent reluctantly agreed, assuming he would place it in the overhead compartment. Once he boarded it became apparent he didn't want to stow it. It wasn't a matter of weight as much as size. I guess "large" would be a better term than "hefty." Sorry I didn't make it more clear.

When I find something in my seat area in row 2, I just call the FA, hold it up, and say that someone must have left their bag in my area from the last flight.

I did this once intentionally. The full details of that day are located in a thread in the AS forum. Relevant to this current thread, I had been displaced from F to the last row in Y, and was given priority boarding to make up for the snafu that had bumped me from F. Among the first group on the plane, I slide my roller bag into the first available bin in Y, then trudged all the way back. It was just a little way to express my frustation.

I also had a very kind FA on AA SEA-JFK ex TWA 757. In SEA you board through the middle doors and there is no bin above rows 7 and 8 and no floor storage because of the exit. The FA did a superb job of keeping the bins cloest to those rows shut and saved for the row 7-8 pax.

There's something about air travel that turns normally civilized people into a bunch of savages. I was once on a flight where someone put an oversized bag into the bin lengthwise, knowing that it wouldn't shut. There were already 2 bags in that bin, so there was no way to re-stow the bag widthwise.

When the FA attempted to close the bin, it wouldn't close - so she asked who's bag it was. The guy obviously didn't speak up - so one of the other people wound up having their bag checked because this a**hole wouldn't admit to having an oversized bag.

I've really come to hate people as a result of all of the flying that I do.

During a recent very full flight we were boarding and going to forward seats. Trying to be nice I see that the bin closest and above my seat is somewhat full. Briefcases and small bags plus a small box. I figure some quick rearranging and I can slip my daypack in without any problems. So I go about setting the briefcase up right. Then put the small bag to the back and the box in front of bag. Which results a reasonable space for my daypack. Just as I finish the passenger across the isle says something about the box being fragile and gets up and moves it back into the space I just created. I politely note that the fight is going to be full and that as he might want to hold it if he is that worried about the contents. He grumbles something and I basically repeat my comments and move it back and slide my day pack in and sit down. He then decides to remove it from the bin.

I guess that is one that bothers me. Coming up to a bin that where people have half-assed stowed their items and then do not want you to move it. I guess next time I will just ask the FA to make some room for me.

FA should have just said, "this bag will be left behind at the airport police station if no one claims it". Should have said something about security, bag matching, etc. to back it up the threat.

Boy, you guys are pretty picky! I can see not wanting to have somebody stuff their bag in your under-seat area, but b----ing about people who stow their bags in the first available space? I sense some control issues . . . .

What drives me crazy is people who stick their tiny little underseat bags (purses, sacks, etc.) right in the middle of the overhead. And the ones who seem to think that they need to put their bags lengthwise to take up as much room as possible. Put that duffle lengthwise right in the center! And that roll-aboard, too. You better not let your luggage come out further than the back half of that bin!

I've seen that reaction cited above--people claiming their parcel is so fragile and can't be moved. If it's so fragile, put it under the damn seat. Plus, instead of putting it at the end of the bin, it's right in the middle . . . .

I always take note if whether a Y pax puts their carryon in F.... if a late F pax boards with no more space, I'll let them know. Otherwise, usually some Y pax's bags end up in F anyway once boarding is complete.
