I have zero tolerance for that kind of crap.

Just curious: What would YOU all do in a situation like this without making it more awkward than it already is? I mean, I want to be tactful about it, but I also don't want to be outright nasty about it. This whole situation is AWKWARD!!!!

Was I one of them? *shrug*

I'll put my feet on the bulkhead occasionally, but only with socks on, not bare feet or shoes. And I don't have the feet higher than my head level like many I've seen do. I usually do it as a replacement for having no footrest and my feet are usually no higher than the magazine pouch level.

A nice friendly 'get your nasty feet down' would do it to get started.

From there on, it would an issue for the FA's to handle.

Though, I do like the idea of dumping stuff on their feet that someone else used.

While some might not have a problem with that, in this day and age where one mis-placed word can constitute a threat of terrorism or whatever, I'd rather not take the risk of being faced with assault charges against another passenger. If one or two "looks" or requests to stop are not honored, at that point it's time to involve the FA or even the captain. As a pax, you still have the right to bring things to the attention of the captain.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Of course, this thread brings to mind that scene in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles where John Candy is wedged into a coach seat and takes his shoes and socks off and starts fanning his feet with his socks . . .

Whoaaaa! Those dogs are barking tonight!

I'm short, and my feet go up on the bulkhead b'c they don't reach the floor and there's no footrest in my favorite row in first. Cutting off circulation for a 3+ hour flight isn't a good idea!!

Socks or no socks, the bulkhead wall is not a footrest and using it as one is a health hazard. You are exposing other passengers to whatever you walked through recently more so than than the carpet (with your shoes on) and what ever is living in your socks and feet (with your shoes off).

And you're telling this to us? Tell it to the guy that did it! I know it's not politically correct to do it in our American culture, but why put up with this crap?

It's not what I see, feet in this case, but what I don't see that bothers me. I wonder how often they clean the planes throughly and disinfect?

I put my feet on the bulkhead. I try to book bulkhead seats so I can do this. It's very comfortable for me. (Rubber-soled shoes are best because they have a high coefficient of friction.)

I keep my shoes on (or use the socks from an amenity kit) because my feet are too clean to touch this type of surface. It's carpeted.

I don't understand why if you object to feet up on the bulkhead, you don't also have a problem with flat bed seats. With flat bed seats, feet are elevated and touching a surface as well.

What do you think the odds are of this person actually being a flyertalk member and reading your post? Relate that to the value of your time making this post. Next time, instead of making loud sigh sounds and writing to a message board on the internet, why not point out to the person that there are others who travel on the plane who didn't appreciate his actions.

what's really gross is that we all have to take off our shoes and walk with socks only (or in some horrid cases like in warmer climates, with NO SOCKS) across the highly traveled floor of the TSA screening area and we probably just picked up this guy's rancid foot fungis before getting to the gate!

And the worst part?

NO ONE IS DOING A THING TO STOP THAT UNHEALTHY STUPIDITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I have written several times to the TSA about it and keep getting the same canned reply. Who here would like to help me keep trying to get them to wake the F up?)

Under normal circumstances, I haven't taken off my shoes for the TSA checkpoints in about 6 months.
